In my SCT software the tow mode has pretty much it's own complete set of transmission tuning parameters.

All the fueling and timing changes that increase performance should work regardless of what shifting mode it's in.

Off-road mode also has its own shift schedule FYI

Yeah, from what I gather generally when you load a performance tune the only mode that is affected is normal drive mode. Off road mode still functions and uses factory parameters. Same is true of tow haul mode. The rub comes when the tune you have loaded has better shift points and tranny control than factory which is what everyone likes about tow haul mode.

There's nothing preventing the tuner from modifying the off-road, and tow mode shifting and such.

If anything I'll make the off-road mode shift points very extreme so that it will hold gears in until high rpm shifts.

@Prybar in a nutshell, the main reason not to tow with a performance tune, you risk burning out your cats. When towing heavy for long distance you want torque not HP, therefore more timing. Some of the tuners really know their shit, talk with them and you will be surprised at what you learn.
