Wheel Well Liners

I recently purchased my first F-150 Raptor. At the dealership I also looked at the new Ranger Raptor and noticed it has rear wheel well liners. Why does the lower priced Ranger have them and the F-150 does not? My best guess is the Ranger body may be steel and the F-150 aluminum. I’d think all off road trucks would have liners.

Because it looks cheap as hell without them. some people care what their offroad truck looks like

I just followed this guys lead and painted them. Turned out well. Looks better and adds some undercoating protection.

I've had some guys tell me that water and salt and crap have gotten stuck behind their liners... and then causing pre-mature (!) rusting. This was on Gen 1s and 2s. Perhaps it depends on how well the prep/install is done? Whatever the case, they recommended no liners, paint if required.

All that said, I didn't do anything to my wells on my Gen 2, and after 4 years, used Rustoleum to hit the rusty weld joints under the truck. Looked good, lasted until I sold.
