I have a 14 super crew and a 19 superb with the Al body smaller engine and shorter chassis 1' the 19 is 1100 lbs lighter but the 6.2 growls and when you put in sport mode its unreal. the 19 is also a beauty especially off-road in Baja mode there is nothing from the factory that can touch it on and especially off road roll your windows up and close your vents cause your going to be eating raptor dust all day and night. Ford designed as a custom build and the lead engineer said the only stipulation ford put on him was one build a great factory off-roader that handles great on pavement and after owning 2 there is nothing even close to a raptor the chases castings bushing shocks everything is off the charts heavy duty. Im 10 miles off paved road in sunnyzona and some of hardback after rains gets a little washboard. at 20mph you know its washboard at 35 and up its like your on concrete roadway. Baja mode forget anyone out there totally awesome and they were the best large purchases of my life and glad I've got them

Two things are for shure with the TRX. It has hardly any similarities to the prototype based on other pictures that are on the net and

Secondly that you won't forget that it is a TF lttruck based every part being branded in red.

chrysler is great at one thing recalls and making garbage vehicles, poor mans ford, junk. If you want a truck for being a pavement rat get low pros spinner rims and doit if your looking for desert southwest with hard pavement driving you can't beat the rap. did cross country trip 6000miles in 1 week truck was flawless running for 40 hrs straight except when gassing the truck just continues to please

This is going to be fun when the TRX comes out. May push Ford to offer a V8 again in the Raptor. I love my ‘19 Raptor, but I do wish it had a big, healthy V8 under the hood versus the TTV6

As a person who lives in high elevation, I couldnt disagree with you more. The high altitude takes its toll in performance and power which the turbos really help eliminate. I had a mustang gt and I could not believe the difference driving in california as opposed to colorado. I use my raptor as an overlanding vehicle so traveling in high elevation is always a possibility.

Agree. Did the ALCAN, driving from Anchorage to Easton Pennsylvania without a hiccup.

My .2, Ford has an awful lot of $$ invested in R&D into the Ecoboost motors trying to get away from V8’s excluding Mustangs and HD Diesels. My guess is that even the 5.0 will be soon removed from the line up. I THINK you’ll see an electric Raptor before Ford goes back to a V8 offering. Also, I know we all love more HP, but how much is too much for an off-road lifted truck(sport cars excluded) other than just to say it has more power. I could easily see 700 HP being wayy too squirrelly off road, even 600.

Agree. I’m new to the truck world, but Mercedes, bmw and Porsche all make glorious SUV motors using TT V8 platform. But then you look at Porsche GT2 or Ford GT and realize the potential of TT 6. The battle with the peanut gallery (us) is and always will be the sound and ego of 6 vs 8. Not actual performance. It’s been made clear that you can make all the HP and performance in the world using 6 cylinder. Personally, I don’t care.

My initial reaction to the TRX is positive. More competition is good. However, My goal is not highest possible HP. My goal is complete package. Which the raptor does really well. If the TRX has more HP, looks good, and offers a complete package for similar pricing I would absolutely cross shop. But I wouldn’t Be willing to give much up at all simply for a V8 and more HP.

I like both, but I think the Gen2 looks better.
