What's the point of no return for changes? I was thinking about adding the carbon fiber package or beadlock capable wheels.

You should be able to make changes until your order is actually submitted... I did. Ditched the accent package and tailgate appliqué.

Once the dealer places as order, at what point is it "submitted"? It's in an "order bank" then it's "released" or something like that? Does Ford control that? Dealer?

thanks-

My interpretation is that your order is waiting for Ford to get to that dealer's spot/allocation(s) to submit the order into production. You mat have weeks/months or depending on the dealer's status it could be one of the first orders submitted to production.
If you are on the fence about something I would make a decision sooner than later to be safe. I did that a couple of weeks ago on pulling out the orange interior accents.

Makes sense, thanks. I made a few option changes as well over the past couple of weeks. My dealer hasn't given me any idea when production will start but he did say that I had a couple of weeks to make any changes then it becomes a pain to change options after that.

Order placed yesterday. Blue SuperCrew, all options except graphics, carbon fiber, and tail gate appliqué. Apparently got the 2nd of the two allocated to my dealer. Priced at MSRP. There was some initial conversation about pricing $2-3K above MSRP, but that may have been salesmanship to make me feel good about getting MSRP. They had do idea on timing...anywhere from 2-6 months. Trade in offered on my 2010 Expedition EL was not great, and I don't have much leverage as I'm sure they would be glad to sell my Raptor to someone else. I'll likely sell my Expedition myself.

Not that anything in this process is very spelled out, but it's not too clear to me what the 'allocation' process is with these trucks. Some dealers seem to claim to know how many raptors they are allocated, some say there's no way to know and they submit orders and see what they can get. I know that one of my local dealers has taken orders for 6 when I called a week or two ago.

Got this today concerning my order. Not sure how to interpret it.

Hello Dwight,

Thank you for reaching out to me. I checked on your Raptor order and it shows the truck status as “In order processing”. This means that your order has been received, successfully edited, and is awaiting scheduling action. Once your truck receives a schedule to build day, it should then get a VIN and ETA. Everything looks in order and it should schedule within a few weeks or months depending on your dealer’s allocation.

Remember, this is a specialty vehicle and will not schedule like the regular F-150s. You can ask your dealer which quarter this Raptor is for. This may help you get an idea of when it’ll schedule. You’re welcome to keep checking with me weekly. Have a good one!

That last part is interesting. I am going to wait until at least Friday to check on mine because that is the first day of order scheduling. Might actually wait until middle of next week.
