I am more concerned with whatever changes they make for the next model year. If there is a good chance of a better engine next model year and all we have to do is wait another 6 months then I would obviously wait for the next model year.

This is assuming I dont get the 17 model until March.

That definitely makes sense!

Sure, it's a V6. But it is turbocharged and makes more Hp and torque than the 6.2! I know American steel should have a V8, but really, performance is performance. Besides a bird in hand is better than the rumor of one in the bush...

I like the 17 engine, wouldnt trade it for a 6.2. Not trying to re-start that tired debate. Its about the nervousness of investing in a first run model. I would be way more interested in turbo diesel variants if that were the case anyhow.

Its simply about the nervousness of a first run model. I do like the discussion, especially when folks like you are willing to chime in and actual contribute ;)

Not always, the 2003 powerstroke diesel 6.0 was rated in later years as do not buy by Consumer Reports. Cost me a few grand when selling it.

Cost you a few grand because it lost value or because you had a truck without a warranty?

The big difference is that your references above all had proven powertrains. The new Raptor has a new unproven motor, transmission, transfercase, etc. I could buy today but choosing to wait a year.

Most of those vehicles are all new motors maybe the transmissions were around but that's about it. I'll give you that some of them are the same liter block but so is the 3.5?

Ps by the time we get these trucks it might be a year haha
