agree. OP can either keep messing with it for the next week pulling batteries and buying jumpers or just have ford deal with it. not to be this way but its a gen2 im not surprised something like this would happen.

Yeah, too many #@$%^ computers.

id just go buy a new Odessey battery. a new battery won't hurt anything and at least with a new battery, you've checked one potential cause off of the list.

When the strange electrical behavior starts happening on any F series truck, it "feels" like there is a capacitor somewhere that isn't getting charged to an appropriate voltage which causes the BCM to throw all sorts of errors around blind-spot monitoring and a slew of other functions.

However, when that happens, you can "jog" the system into reacting properly by doing stupid things...


for instance...

If it still isn't engaging the starter and "trying" to start, try pressing the start button rapidly like a video game controller when you're frustrated. ( press the start button like 15 times in rapid succession.)

I'll bet ya if you try this the truck will turn over. ( my hypothesis is that the rapid button cycle forces an artificial capacitor charge and allows the truck to kick the starter over).

According to everyone's advice which is much appreciated, I performed the following overnight;
1. Disconnected battery cables in order to hopefully reset
2. Placed battery on CTEK charger, "Usually do that when hibernating"

Afterwards, connecting everything back and all same faults and christmas lights appeared even before attempting to crank the engine.

Connected my OBD/Forscan software and here is what resulted:

having a somewhat similar issue. When I turn the key to ignition I get a "starter system fault". This just started happening today. Truck started fine yesterday. I am able to jump start it and once running the battery reads 14.56 amps. he battery also has a sticker notating 11/19 (just bought the truck a month ago). Once it's started it runs fine but as soon as I shut it off the "starter system fault" issue comes back. T So do you think I have a battery issue? Starter relay? I've checked fuses and wiring with no obvious issues.

Looks like the PCM is offline. Check the PCM harness in the engine compartment for rodent damage/chafing and verify that all of the PCM connectors are fully seated. If visual inspection checks out then start checking fuses. The PCM receives power from F16 and F38 in the BJB.

Checked for any visual wiring damage but none
Also checked fuse F38 and F16 using a multimeter, none are blown

Call your dealer. Hope they’re competent.
