Well, it's something I will be thinking about over the next month and a half. Will be tempting to just take delivery when the damn thing comes in....but it literally will be just a stone's throw away from when the 2018's are able to be ordered. I think I might switch dealers too.....as my dealer simply doesn't have much pull with Ford; total allocations for 2017 were 7. I know lots of gents have disputed "total allocations", saying that they could get more, but I'd say, "Don't count on it." My dealer told me in July 2016 that they were going to have 7 allocations. And if you ask them now.....it stands the same--total allocations of 7.

So, you are right, if I was being totally rational, there is no way I should take delivery of this April incoming Raptor.....

Autophanatic, did you order through Gus Johnson? I ordered 9/7 and still do not have a VIN or build date. I talked to them this week and asked about just waiting for a 2018. I was informed there will be a $5k markup above MSRP for the 2018s. So I patiently wait...

Both Autophanatic and I ordered thru Gus. I ordered 8/13. Finally built last friday 3/3. Got an email from my dealer at Gus saying it's on the train and eta of 3/26. I was starting to think about options and possibly waiting for 2018 but don't want to risk trade in value of my 2013 and as you said possible mark up.

My dealer took my order Oct 12th and they gave me a eta of April 10th. Just crazy. Ford could have done much better with this launch. China is getting raptors before some of us that have been waiting forever. Some people ordered theirs way after some and have their trucks already. Any truck will have issues period. Many are making the raptors out to be horrible, some are having issues yes. Some 2017 regular f150s are having issues to. Its not the first year garbage people love to say. Its people building something right or building a bad one. Not every part and piece will be perfect. Hope you have continued good luck with the new one.

As Cobber noted, yes, I ordered through Gus Johnson, whom is actually not my local dealer, but I use for all my Raptor orders. That $5K markup for 2018's sounds bogus to me; they have never had the balls to ask for more than MSRP, especially on a second-year run for a limited vehicle. If you don't want to reveal publicly, I understand, but I would be interested, via private message, who told you at the dealership that they were going to be charging $5,000 over on the 2018's. I'd like to hold that person accountable.

Good deal Cobber, sounds like you are very close! What say you about what Chukaraholic was told? Sounds fishy to me. I would never pay over MSRP, certainly not from a dealer that has never asked for it.

Yeah my 2013 was close to invoice, my 2017 is at MSRP. That was one of the main points the dealer told me before I placed an order as I asked if I can repeat my 2013 deal. He told me no they are only doing MSRP. Everyone else he had heard on the Coast was marking up. Considering how quickly they got orders for their 7 allocations I could see them possibly trying to take advantage BUT as you said they are not a big dealer with a lot of pull so I could see that backfiring or them changing their tune pretty quick.

Just curious, whats the deal with the new Raptors on Ebay. There seems to be a good number of the trucks for sale on dealer lots. Seem like available right away?
