Unless there is something new in 2018 that you really want, there should not be hardly any QC differences between late 2017 build vs early 2018 build. But have to admit that if my order not pulled by when 2018 order bank opens in May.....I may wait too.

Glad your second one has been much better for you. Mine was built on 1/30/17 and I am very happy with the quality of it. Only "issue" I had was the harsh trans shifting at part throttle in sport mode, but that smoothed out after about a week. Guess it just needed a little "learning" time. Best of luck to ya on this new one!

Wait, you ordered your first 7 months ago and haven't received it?

LMAO....

I ordered mine on July 27th, 2016, and mine is STILL "clean-unscheduled"....

I may actually consider myself......but only if there is something offered in the 2018 that wasn't with the 2017. If there are new color options and there's a color I REALLY like. I am not impressed at all with the color options for the 2017. And I too would also go to a different dealer if I did decide to get the 2018.

My dealer only got 3 allocations for the 2017 Raptor.....guess which number I was ;-)

FWIW....I KNOW I was the the first one to walk in and talk about the 17 Raptor. Those igits had NO IDEA what so ever that pre-order was opened. Not even the GM. Yet somehow I ended up #3............

What drove the decision? Color change?

After the oil leaks (two), various fit and finish issues, loose fender flares, clunkiness and odd grumbling noises from the transmission, and a recently discovered exhaust leak over the rear axle just left actually made me feel like it wasn't going to be dependable/reliable in the long run. i didn't have enough faith to even flog the first one off-road, it was a complete street queen and it wasn't holding up to that task. I was at the dealer and they had a deal fall through on a special ordered truck and I decided to make change.

How does a 17' feel more refined than another 17'? Doesn't make any sense unless the first one was a base model (800/801) vs an 802.

Both trucks are/were loaded 802A's with the exception of the BL wheels. I'm not sure if the enhanced refinement I've noticed has something to do with updated engine/transmission strategies or what but it just feels different in a positive way. I'll try to elaborate more after another full days worth of driving.

It was a decent hit because I paid $5K over MSRP on the first one, BUT out of the kindness of their hearts and my continued issues with the truck, they only made me pay MSRP on the new one. Overall $9k hit including the ADM.

Sounds like you are happy now with the new truck. Glad for you, and the money difference doesn't sound bad.

I bit the bullet and traded in my early built special ordered '17 Raptor with 3800 miles built (11/17/16) for a newer built '17 Raptor (2/12/17) today and I can honestly say the truck feels much more refined than my first one. My new one had 21 miles on the clock (compared to 81 test miles on my previous one), ZERO rust on the under carriage, shifting feels much better than my previous one, almost like Ford has stepped up its QC and has actually put some real effort into manufacturing/refining this truck. Overall I'm very happy with my new one, no complaints with 120 miles on the clock.

So where did you trade your first truck in? Those that are having hard time locating a Raptor, your traded in one might be an option.
