You could use a set of SuperSprings for those temporary jobs.
Twenty minutes to put on or take off. It's a tapered helper leaf spring.
They'll raise the back of the truck about an inch and a half.
And no "torque wrap".

How to increase towing capacity?

I'm getting an 8500 lb avion trailer as a hand me down from my grandfather (Similar to airstreams). I plan on gutting and remodeling it and will hopefully be able to put it on a diet. But if I wanted to increase my towing capacity what should I be looking at?

Is the gearing the weakest point? Or is it the softer suspension that can't hold the weight? I would assume that the 6.2 wouldn't need many if any modifications to pull the trailer. Tried searching the raptor forums but didn't come up with much.

Thanks in advance for any advice.

Get some HD springs first. U can do the overload bumps as already said if u want to. A bigger trans cooler isn't a bad idea either.

I live in Colorado and pull a 7500lb travel trailer in the mountains with mine. I use a weight distributing hitch, Hellwig helper springs and installed the SDHQ transmission cooler. Truck sits level and pulls like a charm!

Towing more than 8k

I have a 2013 Screw basically stock. I pull a camper that is about 6500-7000 lbs depending on load.

We really want to get a slightly bigget camper but its hard due to the towing limit of 8k.

So the question is... what if I went 1000 or 2000 over the limit? Bad? No big deal?

Time for a powerstroke?

Thanks

Just from my towing experience, if you had HD springs I don't think it would be a problem.

That being said, if you ever get into any sort of accident and you're overloaded it might make big trouble for you legally.
