Is it only top perch that kills it? I probably have more 4wd miles than most on my 13 and have no issue.

Both SnoBalls, 3 days at Little Sahara(200+miles in the dunes), most of last winter and all of this one in MN(actual driving on ****** roads that are unplowed and general hooning), RallyX and every weekend I go to an Ice Racing track to hoon.

Mine has so far not misbehaved once.

Your not the only one. Ironside has close to 90k miles on his 12 SCREW with no issues. Lives in SD with crappy snowy roads as well. Mid perch. He even took it to the dealer recently and asked them to look it over. Everything was fine.

I on the other hand can't go on an event with out it breaking. I've learned a lot more and I've even changed my driving style. Had both IWEs replaced before Havoc along with vacuum valve / canister. Had left side IWE and left axle replaced before snoball prerun. Had right side IWE replaced after snoball.

Thought it might be driving style and now I drive in 2 wheel most of the time for fear of breaking the my truck. Regardless, I'm more conscience of it now, and it still breaks.

I was thinking about it while talking to my Dad today.

What are your habits for getting in the truck and driving away? Since the IWE has to disengage whenever you drive the truck(assuming the vacuum bleeds off while the truck is off).

I always: put in the key(I probably use the remote start 75-80% of the time), then do my seatbelt, then reach for my shades, turn on the heated/cooled seat. Which always gives plenty of time for the system to pull vacuum on the hub to disengage before I ever move the truck.

I've done 4WD doughnuts quite a few times now, 3 of those for long enough for the truck to hit limp mode for trans temp. On sand/dirt/grass/snow/ice. People like me is probably why you can't 100% disable the TC.

So... I have been having a nightmare with my 2012 Raptor pver the last several months. Living in the UAE, there are lots of great dunes but few equally great workshops. Ford were beyond bad. But an independent shop here called Mebar seems to have worked out how to get me back on the road (it is early days, and i have had some false starts, but the signs are promising...). So thank you to Rashad and the excellent guys there.

But- we replaced the Torsen with an open differential. I have also had to replace another set of axles, and obvioously the IWEs (my wife made me clear out my garage of all the Raptor crap...i threw away 5 failed IWE assemblies...3 axles...thousands of dollars...). But the clunk has gone, at least for now, and I can take my truck offroad again for the first time in 2 months. Meanwhile, i am saving up for RCV axles, upgraded IWEs and a wavetrac differential.

I know that going back to an open diff may not seem like an upgrade...but i think, for the time being, it is the only way forward.
Are the IWEs different on the 10/11 then on the 12+? I would assume they are since the wheel off-set is different.

Need the info! Seems RCV has stalled or lost interest.. Or I just ended up pissing them off..

Greg, I see that RCV has a product on their website for replacements for the Raptor (they look like toilet plungers). I know I've seen this version before. Does this not fix the IWE issue?? Were they working on improving this design and made no progress?
