I think the speculation over a better motor coming seems logical to me. Let's learn from history...2010, the Raptor is announced with a disappointing 5.4 motor. On a personal note...I really wished it came with a crew cab too. Good things come to those who wait!

Now, I get the point that some people have to buy the 2017 so that they'll keep making them. I for one might bite if I had a 2010, 2011 model year with some high mileage...but I personally have a 2014. I feel like that gives me the luxury of waiting and watching.

I've made the point before as have many others, to look at Ford's Diesel issues over the past 10-15 years. The 7.3 power stroke was bulletproof. Ford, influenced by emission requirements (uh hum uh hum) shrunk the motor. Didn't turn out so great for them. I realize that Ford is a huge company with lots of smart people...but just realize the latest and greatest isn't always that. I wouldn't be surprised by Ford introducing a larger motor within a few years of 2017. It might still only be a 5.0 V6, but id much prefer that (as many others would) to a tiny V6. I for one am not a believer in the Eco-Boost program. I am glad that I may have one of the last of the "dinosaur" large V8's and won't be in any rush to sell.

Just let you know, the 2010 Raptor was not introduced with the 5.4, it was introduced with the 6.2 but they could not get it out in time for Job 1 so it was decided to release it with the 5.4 knowing that it was under powered. They had to meet the timing for the Raptor release. As for the diesels that could take many pages to inform you of just what happened between International harvester and Ford

Thanks for that info. I think the point still remains that patience pays off (the 6.2 compared to the 5.4) and that for a multitude of reasons (diesels as an example), the latest motors are not always the greatest.

Yep!!!

Sounds like the Corvette forum in here whenever there's a change.

Great point! Truly sounds like the Corvette forum here. All those naysayers were all hung up about taillights!

And what brought MMD out of the woodwork, just passing by to throw more BS into a few threads and move on to the jeep forums? Lol

I'm only here to **** you off because it's so easy.

The Jeep forums have way more members and there are more jack wagons on this forum than on all the Jeep forums. NO ONE on the Jeep forums puts others down for not owning the latest, "best" model or for being there even if they don't own a Jeep.

Just curious, when did you get a Raptor, last year?

Good things come to those who wait!

You are so right! Wait till next year when the technology is the best! So have you bought a computer yet or are you using your sister's so you can be sure to have the best computer? (it's coming out next year :ROFLJest: ).

Nah man, I'm using my MacBook Air that's just about identical to the past 3-4 years of MacBook Airs that they have released to me "better"...but for my needs, are no better.

I will buy a new computer first...when I NEED ONE, and second...when it is significantly better FOR ME! To each their own, but that's how I make my decisions. I don't constantly chase the newest latest and greatest!

Thanks for helping me make my point @MagicMtnDan!

Also...ask the people who bought the 5.4 raptor is they are happy that they jumped on the first new thing that came out!

Like I said...GOOD THINGS COME TO THOSE WHO WAIT!!!

I do wish the 6.2 had more aftermarket support. It appears to have plenty of potential...

BangShift.com 6.2L Ford Boss V8 Makes 850hp At 460ci
It has potential like any engine has..look at the 2JZ engine that came in the Supras (3.0L). It lacks efficiency and only holds an advantage in displacement over the 5.0L, plus again the aftermarket is much larger for the 5.0L. 4v DOHC will always be more efficient than 2V SOHC. If the 6.2L had 4v DOHC, it's performance ceiling would increase rather significantly. 32 valves > 16 valves. It would have been smart to offer a 5.0L option in the raptor. Hopefully they offer a boosted V8 or at least a NA V8 option in the new ones alongside the ecoboosts.

It would have been a dif story if they put the 5.4L 4v Navigator/GT500 engine in the Raptor...but the 3v 5.4L they put in the Raptor was a big mistake & a crap engine.

I don't drink the rumor koolaid or buy the my sisters boyfriends dads housekeepers cousin works at ford so it must be true. I would however speculate there will be two motor options straight out of the gate. A base ecoboost v6 and an optional upgrade to a v8 at some staggering price tag. Too much controversary for Ford not to do this IMO.

Agree 100%. Hope both have the 10 speed tranny though. Won't be offloading my 2013 for one, but I will be interested to see how it progresses over the next few years.

You lost me at 2JZ, bro. Major flashbacks to an ugly period in automotive history.

By efficiency I assume you mean power per liter, which is the only measure a 4V is more efficient in. But who cares about power per liter? This is a truck aimed at enthusiasts. You want efficiency, you buy a Prius.

I'll take an OHV, a SOHC, or a DOHC, as long as it's a V8 and as long as it makes power.

I'm sorry but I just find this whole comment nothing short of hilarious :ROFLJest: you knowingly buy a raptor and than complain that it does exactly what it is built to do...haha, Thanks for the laugh my friend

WOW, I agree with Frogger22!! Seems to bring the question of why did he spend the money for a Raptor? Big Truck, Big Stance, Big Block and Big Noise!!!

Glad I could make you laugh. Ignorant people laugh all the time as do intelligent.

I bought an off road truck for off roading and getting into hunting spots that most wouldn't go. It does that great, that's why I bought it. Oh and I bird hunt so I've got about 5 months/yr on a season. On road it's not as pleasurable, especially on longer road trips. Just my opinion, but I find it interesting so many commenting that really seem to have no clue on the other, but talk like they have firsthand experience. I own both and drive both regularly. The 3.5L tuned is hella fast, haven't tuned the Raptor yet.

Prior to buying the Raptor I went to V.O.R.E and drove their Raptors to see if the hype about it was true or if it was a street queen...hype was true and when I found out they were stopping production, had to get one.

Just this weekend a guy was telling me he couldn't believe the power the service van with the 'little V6' had, his word's 'I think it has more power than my V8...would have never thought'. He was comparing his brand new Chevy V8 to the brand new 3.5L 3/4 ton Ford van....
