Do those that drive on the Autobahn get Autobahn rated tires?
Sure it's a safety factor and it has to do with speed, weight and outdoor temperature. The higher the temperature the less time you have. Also one should keep in mind the abuse you've put your tires thru. Been off road with a few sharp rocks that may have made some gouges? I wouldn't push it too much then, but hey a street queen/king and good tread on the tires, enjoy.
I will say though those that drive crazy speeds with other traffic traveling much slower are just waiting/about to cause accidents. More than once I've driven in some areas with low traffic and I check my rearview all clear, put on the blinker, re-check rearview/driver's mirror and start to go over only to see some crazy MF going way above speed limit 40+mph and have to pull back over. One of those times I didn't pull back over but I think the street biker crapped his pants, never even saw him until a flash on my driver side as he was passing me on the left white line.
I don't mind going fast/nor those that do, but there's a responsibility factor one should always consider. IMO driving over 20 mph above the speed limit should only be done in low traffic areas, unless of course the traffic as a whole is doing that, like freeways in California I've been on....
My 14' top speed is 100 mph stock.
My 12' 3.5L Eco 4x4 Lariat Loaded SCREW 6.5' bed, with tune and limiter off was either 126.7 or 127.6 mph by gps and that was all it had.
Wife's 12' Lincoln MKT 3.5L governed at 120 mph, but it feel's like it has plenty to go and travels really nice at that speed, minimal road and engine noise.
