Tire recomendations

Just picked up a new set of BFG KO2's in 35x12.5-17 size. I have to say that I think the compound used on the factory Raptor tire is incredibly soft and contributes to the premature wear. I won't be able to confirm my suspicions for a while but hopefully my theory holds true. The new tires feel so good! IMO, the KO2 is the best all-terrain tire ever made.

The weight cost me performance and MPG, I am down a solid 3mpg with the Nittos compared to the BFG’s, The Nittos are a lot better in the wet then BFG’s. The BFG felt like ice skating in the rain and the Nittos grip a lot better, you can still spin them but you have to work at it. The Nittos look evil on the Raptor vs BFG also. Lol

3 mpg is pretty steep. Damn

Every forum I look at regarding tiers for the Raptor, EVERYBODY swears the Goodyear Duratrac tires are the best compared to the KO's.

Where? I did quite a bit of googling before and after starting this thread and I rarely saw duratracks mentioned. I do however see opinions on K02s varying more widely then any other tire. From being the best all around tire to being complete crap from balancing, tread wear and wet weather performance. For me, so far treadware is the only thing that’s sub par. I haven’t had issues in the rain.

wet weather sucks on the KO2s for me, both in traction and hydroplaning ( I now keep in 4A when wet)

looks like mine will get about 30,000 miles

dont know what to try next.

Toyo and Nitto (sister companies) are popular, but way too heavy. Cooper has gotten rave reviews from everyone I know, both in person and online, whereas the KO2 isn't much appreciated, at least here.

I am strongly considering the ST Maxx, but Cooper just updated their AT3 (which skunked the KO1 in every comparsion test.) One guy on facebook just got them and said so far they are a big improvement everywhere.

I for one love the Ridge Grapplers and they have been solid. I will easily get 50k out of them. Could care less that they weigh more when I don’t have to worry about balancing them every 4K miles during rotations. They are better in every category over the stock KO2.

Call the weight penalty for longevity and performance.

Why not the STT Pro? Currently looking at them in 37” for another set of wheels.
