Hello guys
New to this forum nice to meet you all.
I own a 2018 raptor with 80,000 miles on ,had few problem in the last year with it and start to get frustrated.
When I bought the truck there was a blown turbo ,so I replaced it but the truck kept smoking on idle, replaced other side as well, replaced valve cover and intake orings.
Since then the truck smoke on cold start and after long idle.
Also have some starter noise on cold start but that is easy fix.
I have some oil consumption about a quarts for a 1000 miles.
The truck drive pretty good but sometime feels like rough on idle.
Don’t have any pash noise rattle but have a wesgate rattle.
Can please some on can help me to figure out what is root problem?
I live in Israel and there is not a lot raptor in here so mechanical are not so familiar with that truck .
I will add some video in the comment.
The truck is stock except the down pipe are with out any calytic converters (they got plugged).
Also have an p04bd dtc started after the dealer replaced valve cover and cannot find the reason for it.
Please help me my daughter love this truck and love to go desert driving in it.

Is this actual smoke, or condensation burning off? Does it smell (like oil)?

Because the ecoboost platform is famous for burning off condensation built up in the exhaust at startup. That is harmless, but oil in the exhaust is not harmless.

My fears is to bring it in to a passer and them realise I have another problem in the engine that make that smoke.
Intake valve of maybe worst.
Tanks for the help

Welcome to the forum. I've taken note of the issues you're experiencing with your 2018 Raptor:
- Smoking on cold start and after long idle
- Oil consumption (1 quart per 1000 miles)
- Rough idle- Starter noise on cold start
- Wesgate rattle (no pash noise or rattle)
- P04BD DTC (cannot find the reason)

Considering the repairs you've already done (replacing turbos, valve cover, intake orings), it's possible that there's an underlying issue that hasn't been addressed yet. Here are some potential causes and suggestions:
1. PCV (Positive Crankcase Ventilation) system: The smoking on cold start and after long idle could be related to a faulty PCV system. Inspect the PCV valve, hoses, and connections for any blockages or damage.
2. Oil consumption: The oil consumption could be due to worn piston rings, cylinder walls, or valve stem seals. A compression test or leak-down test might help identify the source.
. Rough idle: The rough idle could be caused by a faulty idle air control valve, ignition issues, or low fuel pressure.
4. Starter noise: The starter noise on cold start might be due to a worn starter motor or a faulty starter solenoid.
5. Wesgate rattle: The Wesgate rattle is likely due to a loose or worn heat shield or exhaust component.
6. P04BD DTC: This code is related to the exhaust system. Given that you have a modified downpipe without catalytic converters, it's possible that the code is triggered by the lack of catalytic converters.

To help you further, I have a few questions:
- Can you provide more information about the smoking issue? Is it blue smoke, white smoke, or black smoke?
- Have you checked the oil for any signs of coolant or fuel contamination?
- Have you noticed any performance issues or lack of power?
- Can you provide more details about the Wesgate rattle?I hope this helps you get started on troubleshooting the issues with your Raptor.

Well the smoke is a little bit blue and then start to be withish. To me it doesn’t smell like oil burning.
When I check the oil I smell bit like gasoline in the oil but not sure, the mechanic said it’s normal smell.
I also experience a word knocking that sound like crank but doesn’t continue when I rev it up so that why I’m not sure.
I already done a smoke test and no leaking was found.
The truck doesn’t fill 100% and feel like something hold it back.
No Erorr code except the p04bd .
Pcv was replaced with new.
If you have any other questions let me know.
Tank you for the help sir.
