Holly crap Alex you drove all the way home with the roll of green tape sitting on your windshield, I can see it in your picture you posted. Funny it didn't blow off.

Where do you really live? Suburbs of Toronto or out by Markham? I lived on the corner of Bloor and Yonge for a year - at the Raddisson Plaza II in a huge Presidential Suite. Usually drinking Upper Canada Dark micro-brew and eating ostrich. I worked for Cantel Cellular and Rogers Cable.

OK - back to roof mounting 50" leds and leaving green tape on the windshield.

Ya that middle metal reinforcement is like kryptonite for drill bits

Where are the tips and pics ? You guys give up on this ?

My tip would be to get a good drill bit, other wise you will be spinning your tires for hours trying to get through that middle layer of hardened metal.
I would like to do this same mod to mine but not looking forward to doing it a second time.:whymewhyme:

Anyone try this with the Baja Designs OnX 44"?
Why does everyone with a roof mount have clearence problems in parking garages? I am on top perch, my back CB antenna stub sticks up a few inches, but the rear devers sit low, so the angle is ok that I can make it CRAWL through 6'10" (7' safely) parking garages. Wondering if this mount will stick up higher than the roof on top perch. Maybe make the bar removable and have the mounts on hinges that fold inwards?

Also, I notice a lot of roof mounted lights also have bumper lights. Is one better than the other?

The more lights the better! I still want to do a 50" on my roof, It looks BadAss and gives off a ton of light. Roof lights just seem to work better than bumper lights. I ordered the clamp on style brackets from Rigid but they sent me the bolt on brackets instead, seems they don't sell the clamp on one anymore.
