Hmmm, guess my 2012 Shelby Gt 500 is not so tight then ?, its 5.4 requires 5w-50 oil !

I would just follow what the owner's manual says. You may not see the short term consequences from running the wrong weight now, but you very well might see it in the long term.

For the 97-03 body style f150's, Ford used to recommend 5w30 in their 5.4's. Around 2002 they changed their recommendation to 5w20 and changed absolutely NOTHING in the engine itself. I used the pisswater 5w20 once and switched back. I still use 5w30 in my 00 HD truck.

For the Raptor, I'll just stick with what's recommended, which I'm assuming is 5w20. Our 2011 5.0 takes the same thing. I'll use Ford Syn Blend till 10k, then switch to Mobile 1 after that.

Humvee, I see that you bought the oil pan I recommended...good call, they're super easy as you've probably already been able to tell.

As far as oil, I've used Mobil 1 and Royal Purple full synthetic in my Titan since 5,000 miles. The RP does seem to be a little more peppy...but maybe that's my wallet just telling me that.

However, now that I know that I'm getting rid of my truck in about a year, I'm gonna start putting in whatever full synthetic is on sale.

Been using Motorcraft 5w-20 synthetic blend and the Mobil 1 filter since I got my truck. Debating switching to full syn, but this seems to work well.

I've heard people do this. Is their ANY reason to wait till however many miles (in your case 10K) till you switch to synthetic? I hope that doesn't come off as sarcastic because I truly have no idea.

It's been several years since I've changed my own oil but I'm going to resume doing it on the Raptor. Is it still necessary to replace the washer on the drain bolt these days?

In the raptors case the drain plug has an integrated rubber o ring, you don't use a washer/gasket. After some time you just replace the plug with a new one. Some manufactures still use the washer method though.
