Ok.... Just to clear up any misconceptions about fuel octane and global spark settings etc....

We DO NOT reccomended running lower octane fuel than the designated global spark setting.

The SVC TUNE is preset for 91+ octane fuel at global spark 0

89+ octane at global spark -2

87+ octane at global spark -4

Using higher octane than what global spark is set for is ok.

Using lower octane than what global spark is set for is NOT ok.

Thanks for the post. Crystal clear. I double checked with Jeff earlier, I set mine at -4 since I run 87 octane for the most part. Nice to have the ability to change the setting and run 91 when I feel like it.

So I am running the 5* tune and had issues with emissions testing. I had to change it back to stock and then ran the truck for 50 miles and then it passed.

I am considering the SVC tune as it does NOT shut off the CAT and O2 sensors.

So the SVC comes standard to run 91 (0 spark), I assume you can readjust the spark via the SCT tool when running less octane?

Correct, you can adjust it -4 for 87 - 2 for 89 and leave it at 0 for anything 91+. you'll also have the ability to adjust your TPMS sensors.

The SCT X3 and X4 should allow global spark adjustment unless it can be locked out by the tune itself.

I looked at the SVC website and it shows that it compensates for bad gas. How does it do this, but not compensate for lower octane levels (sub 91)?
