Man, this thread gave me a headache and made me sick to my stomach. I am glad to hear you are rolling anyway. Are you still in the area? Glad I didn't deal with those clowns!!!

No I'm back in Indiana now. Stay as far away from them as possible. Lol.

I'm pleasantly surprised she did well. Especially with all of the issues everyone else was having. I'll take having to wire up my starter to a switch over no power steering. Lol.

I'm still boggled by your lights. Drawing 22 amp 12 ga wire should be plenty at that distance. There's no reason those should need any fancy wiring outside the regular up fitter.

Completely agree

Yeah, that shit irritated the hell out of me, but if that and the coolant res cracking are the only two things i have to fix then i'm happy.

It broke again?

Best of luck. If you are ever back this way, look me up.

I will definitely steer clear. I have had good luck with Freedom. I don't know how good the service department is but I at least feel that have a little integrity.

Yep, though while replacing it this time i've found the reason, aside from it not being a very robust overflow tank (which I'll figure out sooner or later) the nub that the line connects to is on the bottom and i realized that it is making contact with the wiring harness and putting undue stress on it which when combined with jarring offroading is cracking it. Design flaw, i'll need to move something.

Just got off the phone with the dealer about the starter. They tried telling me it wasn't an internal failure and that it wasn't working because the negative post was broke. While this is true, it's just the plastic piece and the post is still connected. I wouldn't be able to jump the posts if it wasn't connected. Because of this they will not replace it under warranty.

I'm going in as soon as I get out of class to have a discussion with the service manager. They quoted $600 and some for alignment, starter, and to investigate the cooled seat issue.

Laid back Zac is about to snap. I'm tired of getting shit on.

I need to start recording my conversations. I can't remember half the time. Long story short, dealer will not replace the starter via warranty.

I asked to speak with the mechanic who looked at it. I said, "In your 'professional' opinion, do you believe the truck is not starting because of the broken negative post or because the solenoid is bad. He told me it's because of the broken post. I asked how that's possible when I can bridge the two together to start the truck. He exclaimed that I'm probably moving the post and causing it to get connection.

I wanted to punch him in the throat. As a mechanic he should know that is every sign of a failed solenoid. The post wouldn't even be broken except for I over tightened it yesterday. The strapping is still connected it's just the plastic that holds the post down. I did the same thing when I installed my headers.

This morning in a disgruntled state I finally made the call. I left a voicemail to the GM of Cavalier Ford that if he didn't respond by COB tomorrow that I would be contacting an attorney. I just received the following email from the service manager:

Mr Taylor

Your insurance adjuster met with Ken Nelson to finalize your claim(s) two weeks ago. He came back in earlier this week and again, this morning. He said he was going out to his car to cut a check and disappeared. If he doesn't show back up today I have instructed my Service Manager to call his suppervisor. We are still waiting for his final revisions and payment. When he has settled with us, it will be determined what, if any, is owed back to you. I do acknowledge we have a monetary difference from our first estimate (body repairs not completed) but after that it is up to USAA.

I have also responded to your BBB claim. I have told them that this is an unsettled insurance claim and you are the insured, not the claimant. I wouldn't expect too much help from them.

I suggest you reach out to USAA and remind them the ball is in their court and we are waiting on them.

While reading this, I had to put my boats on.

Since the starter was replaced as part of the insurance claim, why wouldn't it be covered under the Ford parts 2 year warranty?

My thoughts exactly. I told the service manager I wanted to know why a ford part installed by a ford dealer, regardless of why, doesn't carry a warranty. He said that if they took pictures ford would deny it because of the broken post and all the mud.

The best part is he repeatedly said how he doesn't like working on performance vehicles like the raptor or high end mustangs because they usually have modifications. First, I wouldn't tell a customer you don't want to work on those vehicles. Two, he's not the deciding factor in a warranty claim.
