So I just got some bad news... Dealer called and there are metal shavings in my transfer case - so much that it looks like glitter in the fluid. I have a loaner car but they can't guarantee I'll have my truck back by next Thursday for the run. I have another dealer (in a different dealer zone) checking through their channels to see what the timeframe would be for them get parts to fix it so I'll see what they say too. This sucks. :(

My loaner car is a Subaru which all the treehuggers up here love to take into the woods...maybe I should see how it handles the deep snow. :p Kidding. I'd never want to pollute the run with such a hideous vehicle.

I know how you feel. They said I might get mine back on the 24th which doesn't help me. Maybe I'll show up Monday evening at the casino.

What's wrong with yours? Even if my truck isn't done I'll still see everyone in Marquette...but still moving ahead planning on it being done.

This weekend my brother was going to help me tie everything down in the bed so now I'm at the mercy of the dealer to let me access my truck. If it's in a service bay odds are they won't want us in there for insurance purposes. Not sure when/how I could move the spare and fasten everything down though so this whole issue has really thrown a wrench in my plans.

I am also a licensed HAM radio operator (KC3BFW). I see from checking the group list that you are Lead for group C, I am in group D. Are there other licensed HAM radio operators on the SnoBall? Do we want to do anything to establish communication between groups in case it is needed? I have a 50W mobile rig in my truck and will also have a 5W hand held.

Last year Yukon ran a handheld with an external antenna. 5 watt. I was the last person in D and we were pretty spread out at times, 3-4 miles in some areas and i ran an icon f5021. We had no issues communicating with each other. I actually jumped to the back because the two people behind me with just handhelds were loosing contact with him.

I bet your dealer would be willing to throw the spare in the bed. They won't secure it, but at least you won't have to spend that extra time in the cold.

I know it's a little late in the game but I would like to offer my home and or shop up to anybody coming up 75 through Michigan for the Snowball. John G will have his camper on the property plugged in and heated. The camper can sleep 4 plus I have a spare room and couches to overnight some folks. Matt Richards will be here along with John and I think Wes will be here also. The more the merrier.
Please let me know if you want to stop in.
Also please feel free to stop in if you would like to convoy up with us all

Your scarring me.... mine is at the dealer now. Suppose to be done Friday (if parts come in on time). Don't speak my parts!

Perhaps your dealer can get you a loner raptor while you wait?

Actually by the time of the run, I had the TYT9000. With mag mount antenna. I had spotty coverage at times, but Donk had the hand held; was either first or second and had no problems.

I actually asked for a loaner raptor! :) The service guy laughed and said he hasn't seen a spare one just sitting around there... My codriver has a '14 SE Screw coming in soon but unfortunately it won't make it here soon enough. :(
