"The North American International Auto Show kicked off this morning in Detroit. Congratulations to the team as the 2015 F-150 was named the North American Truck of the Year. This latest recognition is a reflection of the hard work each of you does every day.
Today begins another exciting year as we continue building our product momentum. During our news conference, we highlighted the importance of innovation throughout our business, including through connectivity, mobility, autonomy, the customer experience and performance.
We introduced three new global vehicles that will be part of the newly announced Ford Performance lineup – vehicles that are sure to make people’s hearts race as they start arriving later this year.
The all-new Ford GT is an ultra-high performance supercar. GT is Ford’s most extreme offering, infused with race-proven technology engineered to keep company with exotics. It showcases a next-generation twin-turbo EcoBoost V-6 that produces more than 600 horsepower – the most powerful EcoBoost production engine ever. GT also demonstrates Ford’s latest innovations in aerodynamics and lightweighting, featuring a lightweight carbon fiber construction.
The all-new F-150 Raptor is our ultimate high-performance off-road pickup. Every part of Raptor has been reengineered to create our toughest, smartest and most capable off-roader. It offers a high output 3.5-liter EcoBoost that is exclusive in the F-150 lineup to Raptor and paired with an all-new 10-speed transmission to help improve efficiency.
Late last year, we introduced the new Shelby® GT350 Mustang. Today, the Shelby GT350R® Mustang also joins the lineup. It is the most track capable, street-legal Mustang ever – a car for the most demanding track-driving performance enthusiasts. The Shelby® GT350R is designed in the same spirit as the Shelby GT350 Competition model, developed by Ford and Carroll Shelby in 1965.
We can all be proud that we are continuing to deliver true product excellence. In 2015, we will launch seven new vehicles in North America, and will begin to see the results of our investments and your hard work during the past several years."
