This is not the same 3.5l motor that is in the F150's already. This is going to be the same 3.5L that is in the Ford GT. So your F150 tuners are not going to work on this.

The engine is going to have a new block, new heads, and upgraded internals over the F150's 3.5l eco boost motor.

Youre correct but its not out of the realm of possibility that Ford Performance doesnt put out a tuner for this sepcific model. Im willing to bet on it.

As for the 10 speed tranny thats what scares me. I hope its good enough that you dont feel/see/experience an ass load of shifting when you start driving like a maniac. It just seems like thats an awfully high amount of gears that could overheat the tranny fairly quickly with spirited offroad driving.

Im happy about the twin turbo v6 ecoboost! Even more so that Ford Performance is releasing tuners that do not void warranty. A simple stage 1 remap can squeeze out a bunch of power on turbo motors. Throw on a couple supporting mods and head to stage 2 and you can really blast out higher HP and torque numbers.

The ecoboost has survived baja and other torture tests so far and the best part is there is almost 2 years until the new Raptor will be available which means more miles behind the current ecoboosts to figure out any long term reliability issues.

Sure its not a big V8 but it is what it is and with global concern about fuel economy and the environment big V8s are going to disappear and be replaced by smaller boosted motors.

I guess the whole "youre compensating for something" argument could come into play here.

As an owner of v8's, straight 6's, and a modded turbo subaru I will say the subaru is the most fun to drive and mod simply because of the turbo and all the easy upgrades on the market.

Watch it sonny.

I think the designers went to school together...

I think I'm going to get a Super Duty and put a Carli kit on it to tow the real Raptor. Maybe I'll buy one of these for the future Mrs Stoner

Sad to see the SVT name go away to a generic "ford performance"

Tailgate is hideous

Please do not have a the fake sound BS the other F150s have. I want the V8 noise under the hood not a fake audio of a V8 coming from my speakers!

Disappointed with a ecoboost option but only time will tell if its better then the current engines. I would be concerned with low end torque. typically low displacement motors have a hard time with this. however you have two smaller turbos mounted very close to the heads to correct the turbo lag. I have driven the ecoboost in the regular F150 and do not care for it. Honestly think the 5.0 runs better. It will be interesting to see how these hold up to the abuse. What concerns me is the longevity. More shit to go wrong in the dirt. I get the drive behind the ecoboost line up but serious who buys a raptor for fuel mileage?! or green tree peace? you buy a raptor because its a raptor not Prius!

Bottom line is ford isn't stupid and they are not going to let the F150 flop on its ass, Im sure this will be one sweet ride.

I have owned a 500+ rwhp TT V6. I torture tested it myself. :) I don't have a problem with it... but I am a bit of a boost-a-holic.

Good luck with Turbo's. I've heard through the grapevine that the guys who did the ecoboost/Raptor conversions were going through turbos do to the dirt/dust of the desert (take it for what it's worth). Curious what SDHQ's experience with them has been.

We'll see how they hold up. Also, I couldn't care less about what ford says in regards to the torture tests and being Baja proven. They said the same thing about the frames of the current gen and pretty much everyone who does an serious offroading has to get a bumpstop kit.

I'm actually happy with the new Raptor since it doesn't make me want to trade in my current one AT ALL haha. It's different which is cool and it's 500lbs lighter. Tailgate is horrible as well IMO.

like to see it parked beside gen1. It seems taller in some of the picks. Are the tires still 315's?

I think they're 35x12.50x17 given the KO2 isn't listed in a 315 any more. However it is too early to know for sure if BFG plans to release a 315 D rated tire specifically for this truck...
