Hoping this isn't true but came from a Ford Rep at the NAIAS.

"SOURCE: FORD TO DISCONTINUE V8 MOTORS IN MUSTANG, F-150 AFTER 2017, WILL RUN 4-CYLINDER AND V6 ECOBOOST EXCLUSIVELY"

Source: Ford to discontinue V8 motors in Mustang, F-150 after 2017, will run 4-Cylinder and V6 EcoBoost exclusively | HorsepowerKings.com

Ford is definitely phasing out the V8 motor altogether”, he said – word for word. “CAFE and EPA are working very hard discreetly to to make sure of that. There is quite a bit going on at Ford that the public is in the dark about. The impression that I am getting is that Ford wants to continue it’s V8 program, but things have (rather recently) taken a new direction, presumably from CAFE/EPA pressure in mid to late 2013. Ford have invested quite a bit of money into the Coyote program over the years, and even had plans of going DI (Direct Injection). The future development budget for the 5.2L FPC motor has dwindled, and there is talk that this motor may continue it’s life exclusively in the form of sanctioned racing series, not on the street. The next big thing for Ford at this point is weight savings. They are trying to lighten these Mustangs to get high performance numbers out of the Ecoboost, and whether we like it or not, that is the (near) future. It’s not Ford’s fault, and you can thank the Gov’t for this – not the consumer”.

I wonder how GM is getting away with it then. Most all of their platforms come standard with V8's. Seems a bit fishy one manufacturer is balls to the wall in V8's and Ford is crying 4and 6's for them?? Things that make you go Hmmmm!

Just my thoughts but wait and see, our trucks are going to look & feel really old 2 years from now once you've been seeing the new F150s on the road for that amount of time. The gen 1 Raptor will be 7 model years old by that time which is an eternity. If the gen 2 was to be released this Fall I would probably be in line for one. As it stands, I'll now probably throw a Roush on mine and enjoy it more and then go for the '17 when available. Even with one hell of a (SVC) tune, these trucks are just too damn slow. I don't need the Whipple level of power so Roush would be just about perfect for me. Install looks easy and reliability seems good.

Until you have a actual Ford Rep on the record its all just BS. No way the V8 is going away. The mustang with the Coyote motor and the 5.2 is not going to disappear.
Are you kidding? We have inside executives here that were involved in the development of the raptor. They were present before the enveiling

Try reading the thread before assuming what I am talking about. If you read you would see the post above mine stating that ford is removing V8's from all its vehicles including the mustang. Show me where a Ford Rep has publicly stated that....

Those HORSEPOWERKINGS ********* also "Exclusively" said the Raptor was going to weigh in at 4600 pounds . Whoever works there should consider playing with sticks of dynamite near an open flame.
