Imagine the feeling and frustration of telling your buddy...."yeah, I smoked my brushes last night" rathet than saying "I blew a rod through the side of the block"......

I figure it'll be a lot of:

...and then it 'sploded.

or

...and then it set fire.

or

...and then I had no eyebrows and the garage smelled like ozone and pain.

At one point I would have thought that what California does, would not affect me. But they are what, the 7th largest economy in the world? I imagine that does affect things further than their state border.
Kalifornia also dictates what school books the entire nations public schools use.

I'm throwing the BS flag. Either it's a forgery or a dealership ripping someone off to the max.

Type the part number in and it shows a discontinued part.

Look up the battery by the year/make/model and you find the GM Refurb for a touch under $6900:

Battery Assembly - GM (20979876)

2011-2014 Chevrolet Volt
  • MSRP:$9,100.00
  • Discount:$2,220.40 (24.40% off)
  • Sale Price:$6,879.60

And a new one for $9100 + core charge of $3k

The next shoe to drop will be when car manufacturers say they will no longer make replacement parts for ICE vehicles more than five years old. Then you know you’re s crewed.
With advances in scanning, by the time oem's stop making inventory then you can just scan the parts and replace them using 3D, CNC, or whatever tech comes next. And in the hands of private parties, they will be cheaper, lighter, and can be made to order. Maybe not collision parts like airbags, but certainly all the moving parts.

Looks like this originated on Reddit.

Reddit Volt Battery Topic

Regardless, as one person correctly comments,

"Can you imagine having to buy even a $6000 battery at 70k miles. Its the same as replacing your engine and transmission. Id be mad as fu....."

Additional articles regarding this particular "invoice/estimate"

Only $9,000 at this place!

I suppose, but a quick look at the forums says that 70k is way low to need replacement and the original warranty is 10/100k. Mechanical things break, though, and some poor bastard gets the low end of the bell curve of life expectancy. I think this is just a successful trolling by the original poster of the photo.

Could very well be.

The Chevy VOLT has always been on my radar as one of the absolute worst EV's ever made. IIRC, the total range was something like 40 miles. FORTY.
