Are you talking about the powerboost the standard F150 is getting or the "HO output" the avator has they they are talking about putting in the Raptor?

I was totally guessing on numbers there... based on them continuing to use our 3.5L....only number I've seen publicly stated is the Powerboost in the 10speed truck supposedly makes 41hp.

But just realized they're all quoting it as making "35kw / 41hp"....But 35kw is actually 47hp...so someone screwed up the math and all the car sites republished it: https://fordauthority.com/fmc/ford-...owerboost-family/ford-3-5l-powerboost-engine/

"HO" is all relative. What they put in the Aviator is nice, but completely weak nut compared to any large displacement S/C V8 engine. Remember when 215 HP was HO? LOL.

I wasn't trying to say that the powerboost is going to come close to making up the power difference between a TTV6 and S/C V8. I just didn't know if the poster's estimate was using F150 or Aviator powerboost, since they are not the same and the Raptor is rumored to have the Aviator's.

A 750 HP S/C V8 *would* be the best out there if it was a choice. When is a less powerful engine ever a better choice?

Those in that market are going to chose between TRX and Raptor V8 and pick whichever one they see as best. Yes, that 50 HP is better, but I think close enough that people will look at other factors a bit more closely when making the choice.

My brother had one in high school. It was the fastest car in the world. The whole world!

(But seriously, OMG was 205hp amazing then)

And everyone has a different definition of "best" so there won't be a single best choice for everyone. For me, once horsepower is adequate, more is not better. I'd rather have range instead. The TRX 300 mile range is a complete non-starter for me. It's a joke if you ever plan to get more than 100 miles from the nearest gas station. Lower curb weight, better handling, and higher GVWR would also be higher on my list than extra horsepower. I have no interest in a blown V8.

when you don’t necessarily need it, or more importantly I’d say- when it’s more prone to failure/issues. I wouldn’t call the N/A or supercharged V8s Ford currently makes (particularly the lower volume top end ones like 5.2 voodoo) @ the top of the scale reliability-wise

Parts availability & the familiarity ford techs have w/ the platform probably better too w/ powerboost vs “limited” low volume production run of a V8 drivetrain used in a relative handful of vehicles

I’d prefer the Powerboost & a “normal” price tag, then match the “super raptor” power w/ a tune lol

For me, once horsepower is adequate, more is not better.

That's kind of where I'm at, even though my competitive side says "More horsepower!" ... then I stop and think about it and it's like... so what? For most of the off-roading I do, I won't even use what I've already got.

So is it a street bragging thing? I admit that appeals to me... who doesn't like to have the biggest and baddest. But in everyday usage, what am I actually gonna do with 750 HP that I can't do in my measly 450 now?

I dunno... I'm torn. I'll probably HATE to see one of the V8's out on the road cause I'll want it... but I'm so happy with my current one I'll just have to deal with it. Plus... the pricing (plus the wonderful ADM that Cali dealers are STILL trying to charge will be through the roof I'm sure).

So even if I wanted to do it, I'm sure I couldn't afford it.
