Ford leadership will need to approve a V8 option for the Raptor because of the Ram TRX competition. Ford will not let a competitor dominate over their performance oriented 3rd generation Raptor. A V8 Raptor will probably start in the low $70k range before destination and options to be competitive with the TRX.

You should check, I did respond to that old post. I asked you if a L88 Vette was a musclecar. Crickets.

Let's use your examples. Is the Vette the "Halo" car for GM, what ever the hell that is? It has several versions all the way up to the ZR1, the top of the line, not the ZO6. Same basic body style with different motors. Your other example proves my point. The Mustang GT500 and GT350. Same top of the line cars with different engines.

Would you feel better if Ford called it the "Raptor V6 Twin Turbo" and the "Raptor Supercharged V8"? Same body style but with different engines.

Ford has already done this. The first Raptor had a 5.4L engine and the next year they moved to a 6.2L. Same generation but two different engines.

Look if you want a V6 Raptor then buy one. None of my business and I don't care. But why are you trying to dictate that that should be my only choice? I just want another option. There are too many people in the world trying to mind too many other's business.

If there is a SC V8 option it will be a low production run and I'd be surprised if it was offered in anything less than an 802A for $80K+.

Ram has to be a little nervous. They are at a huge weight disadvantage so if the Raptor has anything close to the same amount of HP, it will be faster/quicker.

Also, Ram seems to be pulling their HP number from the more optimistic side of things. I drove the 440HP power wagon and even with its we little 31” tires, it was so slow!

But this is typical of dodge and typical of dodge buyers. Throw horsepower at it so their one dimensional buyers can have something to brag about.


I can't wait to see the YouTube videos of yobs yolo'ing into a tree while yelling power!

I would take the 450hp TT over the 750hp V8 ... but that doesn't mean you aren't nuts.
I would like to have a KERS or something where I don't need to plug it in.

I know it would be super expensive to do that but it would be awesome. I don't want to plug in any car but a V6TT Hybrid that's plug less would be ****.

Last thread got closes so I couldn't respond to you but on to this one....u don't understandwhat a halo car mean??

Ok let's use the examples you have, I will break it down very simple for you

Vette is the car not the trim level
F-150 is the truck not the trim level

Zr1 is the top trim level of the vette ...only 1 engine option

Raptor is the top trim level of the F150...only 1 engine option

GT500 and GT350 are to different car so no it is not the same, you do not have an option. When you buy a GT350 you only have one engine option , when you buy a GT500 you only have one engine option


The example you have for the first gen raptor , they didn't give you an option on which motor, the 5.4L was replaced by the 6.2L. You did not to to check a box for which motor you wanted

You are confusing trim levels as options for a trim level. I don't know any easier why to explain this to you.

What makes you want the KERS? I have seen you post it a few times, but the KERS is really only meant as a boost. This would be great on a small displacement, NA ICE. Many years ago, I played with this technology from a UK company, and that was all it was good for - short bursts of energy. It is not meant as a range extender, or power source. Although, it does pack a quick power surge which also takes tech to manage in order to use efficiently.

The real problem for Ford here is not raiding the corporate parts bin for the requisite powerplant (they have that covered with the Mustang's Predator V8) but rather how to get it on the dealer's forecourt for a competitive price. Pretty well loaded Raptor super crews go for $75,000 as it is. You fold this engine into the mix along with some cooling upgrades to keep it all together in an off-road duty cycle, possibly a larger wheel and tire package because I imagine it is going to need more brakes and so on and you are at what price point? Can they get close to that $71K mark that the TRX hit? I doubt it. The price gouging that Ford has done with the Gen2 Raptor now has them backed into a corner. Even if they offer the Raptor in two flavors, who is going to pay $75,000 for a boosted V6 with hybrid assist (yeah, like that is going to be reliable) when the TRX is sitting there for the same price? The way FCA rolls, they are going to churn those things out like crazy and they will have $5000 incentives on them in a year. This almost suggests that Ford might be forced into a rethink of Raptor pricing. These specialty pickups probably rank as the #1 money grab in the industry. GM offers a mid-engined sports car built on a dedicated platform that can compete with Porsches for $59,995 for God's sake. And Ford needs to charge the same amount for a tarted up truck based on a platform that is sold by the millions and had the tooling paid off 5 years ago.

The real problem is that you’re comparing a completely loaded Raptor ($75k) to the staring price of the TRX at $71k. Raptors start at $53k; you call that “price gouging”? There is not a production vehicle on the planet that competes with the Raptor, and yet you can still get one for the same cost as an any other premium/luxury pickup.

A loaded RAM TRX is over $90,000; there is no reason Ford can’t match that pricing if they add the Predator 5.2 as an option.

The fact that you call the Raptor “tarted up” really shows your ignorance. The Raptor doesn’t even ride on the same frame as a standard F-150; the tooling for the body panels all Raptor specific aside from the doors and roof. Claiming the tooling was paid off 5 years ago when the truck has only been out for 3 only further shows that you don’t know what you’re talking about.

Let's say you are 100% correct in everything you said and I agree with it all (I don't) and I am totally wrong on everything I have said. But is there some unwritten law that I don't know about that says your top of the line trim level can only have one engine option?

I know this is way before your time and since you think I am so old but I remember when Chrysler sold the top of the line Plymouth Superbirds and Dodge Daytonas. Those were the top trip levels and you could get a Hemi or a 440. I think they even offered a 440 "six pack". That's an engine with the 3 two barrel carbs in case you have never heard of that phrase.

All I am asking is why can't Ford offer 2 engine options on the Raptor. A V6 and a V8. If you love the V6 then buy one. If I want a V8 I should be able to order one.

I don't understand why you are so adamant that there only be a V6 in the Raptor. Again, all I am asking is to have an option. Nothing more.
