Have the TX dealer send you a new temp tag…whether by mail or email until you get it resolved. Had a similar situation where I needed the MCO (manufacture certificate of origin) from the out of state dealer to register my vehicle and temp tag was close to expiring. I reached out to the dealer, explain the situation, and they sent me a new temp tag. Got my plates shortly after.

edit to add…turned out, they mailed the MCO to the wrong place and I had to track it down.
Thanks, reached out this AM - still waiting for dealer’s response.

Some states require their residents pay Use Tax on large out of state purchases. I live in Michigan and purchased the truck in Arkansas. I had to produce the Arkansas title and pay tax for the cost of the truck (at Michigan’s tax rate) to Michigan to obtain a title from Michigan. I did so at my local Secretary of State (DMV) office. I don’t know if that’s applicable in your situation, but that might be a good place to start.

I also let my dealer handle it. They didn’t. I ended up getting them to send my tax money back to me so I could handle it myself.

I had a similar issue with a Texas dealer and my vehicle (2019 gen II). I had them issue a temp tag extension which bridged the time until I got registration and plates from my local DMV. The entire waiting process took almost 3 months (crazy). I'm residing in Nevada (Las Vegas). Keep bugging the dealer to get what you want.

Just reach out to dealer AGAIN (waiting for something other than the "right person will get back to you"). Came from DMV and after 7-weeks they have nothing in the system on my Raptor. They also mention it is not unheard of to take 3-months. Interesting neighbor purchased new Jeep about same time as me from out-of-state and received his tags on Monday.

Titles and registration are a nightmare for out of state vehicle purchases right now. I bought my Raptor in December '20 and didn't receive plates until July '21. There is a company somewhere out east called RegUSA that handles a lot of this paperwork for dealers and apparently the whole company is a complete shit show.

Great! What did you do for plates, just keep getting new temporary?

You know that you can ask them to send you by email a new temporary plate with a new expiration date and you can print it... although since they already received your money, nothing rushes them
