It is a known issue with the 2018s and maybe 2017s. I got a letter also from Ford, but it was for my Leadfoot Grey 2018. I traded that in for a silver late 2018 and I haven't had a problem with that one yet, or received a letter on it.

I had the same issue. I assumed it was the keyfob remote button being inadvertently pressed while in my pocket. I used Forscan to deactivate the remote release, and have had no further problems.I found mine unlocked twice now but it was held up by my Undercover Elite Tonneau cover, thought maybe I had done it accidentally since I wear my keys on a maxpedition key holder and it may have bumped up against part of the seatbelt.
I'll have to check into this to see if mine is being recalled for this tailgate issue.
I with ya! I’m sure the dealer can fix the problem but I doubt they’ll fix the damage to our trucks.Mine opened by itself after I parked it last week in my garage so the next day when someone went to open garage tailgate was leaking on it and scratched the shit out of it near the handle. I thought maybe it was me but after seeing this I am pretty pissed off.

Sure hope soIf it's due to an issue with it unlocking itself the they would be liable for any and all associated damage.
