I just used a stainless hose clamp and gorilla taped over that. I'm hoping that will slow down the opportunist.

After reading this forum, I decided on the MasterLock. Very Nice!

However, I had a question, based on a previous experience with a motorcycle. One morning I noticed the ignition on my motorcycle was apparently tampered with by a screwdriver. They destroyed the lock in an effort to start the bike. This was really a stupid thing to do, since I already had a sturdy C clamp on the wheel, with no way to remove.

So, I'm thinking I should leave the tailgate lock OPEN from now on considering if they try to steal the tailgate, they will see the MasterLock and give up.

What do you think?

here, on frf
alwas lock it. it just makes it that much more time for the would be thieves to have to work. although, with the right tools, i can unlockyour tailgate in a matter of seconds. but a thief wouldnt use power tools since they are noisy, so it would take them an additional couple minutes.

Thanks, that make sense. The lock is probably cheap enough to replace and will buy some extra time.
