Isn't that the idea of forums. If you have issues with equipment or ideas to post them? So I searched about tailgate assists and this thread came up. I'm new to the forum and joined to see others solutions or ideas. And by the way, why should I keep replacing a new item? If it does not hold up, then stay clear. I was looking for similar products that others may have been using.
Sorry @cobrajet, didn't mean to offend you. I was just mad at @RDFTS for being a jerk and making me look stupid. I guess if you are a real-life computer programming wizard it makes you good with numbers.

Replacing the nutsert is pretty easy to do. I do not know of any similar product. Having this tailgate assist is worth some extra effort to overcome a design flaw from DeeZee. It is just too handy to not have. For just $30, I would put a new one on twice a year, if needed.

Pretty cool. I've thought about it a few times but something else always comes up that I want more. Also is it just me or is the tailgate on our trucks pretty light compared to other ones? I know my GMC had a way heavier one.

There apparently is a spring loaded tailgate assist system somewhere in the tailgate. Seems I read it somewhere
