Supercharger or not?

These reply’s are amazing. Turns out there was an issue with downloading the tune from Whipple. Not their mistake. My techs mistake. He accidentally loaded a tune that came with the tuner. Whipple engineers are working with the shop to figure it out. I am hoping they work together tomorrow to figure it out. If not I feel like it may wait until next week. Thank you all for the reply’s. The stage two kit did come with 60# injectors and larger throttle body and heat exchanger with dual fans. The shop does mostly Whipple installs on Mustangs and they work with Lund for programming on them. Lund will not program a Raptor with a Whipple supercharger. Found that out today as well. Seems like once I get the correct tune in place from Whipple it should be ok. Does it usually work in the first tune they send over or will we need to go back and forth with info to dial it in?

Holy crap. That could have been catastrophic. Did you run it hard at all? Too much timing and too little fuel can be bad news. You got lucky!

Should run great right out of the gate after the relearn process for the CPU. Then you can log it and send that in for the tweaks to make it perfect.

The tech just drove it down the street and back. He said the tuner came with three tunes built in so he loaded the 93 tune and that’s when he discovered an issue. He needed to have a calibration done by Whipple. He said it wasn’t apparent that needed to be done from the instructions. I was freaked out a bit but hoping it’s all ok once the calibrated tune comes back from Whipple.

My truck is a 2010. The tuner came direct with the Whipple kit. I am not sure what the price difference would have been. I actually already had an SCT tuner I didn’t dig in deep enough to try to exclude the one it came with and just use the one I had. It wasn’t apparent if the new one came with the tune installed or if I had to upload the tune so I just left it alone. My installer just didn’t have the directions for the tune set up. Not sure if they were overlooked or not included. I didn’t open both boxes. Only opened one box to see the supercharger itself. My days of wrenching are over but in hindsight I should have at least read all of the instructions. I just trusted my installer as he installs lots of Whipple Superchargers on Mustangs.

You and I have the same year, it's an odd ball for the Tune since we have stuff in the PCM from the 2009.
2011-2014 are more similar.
Not sure how your installer went through the Tune process with Whipple.
You have to give them your vin# and the strategy code off the top of the PCM and of course any and all mods,
so Whipple can build your custom Tune.
I'm sure it will all work out, don't worry.
Also you said you had two SCT devices, use only the X4, the old X3, SCT doesn't support that any longer.

Also I recommend deleting any Tunes on the X4 before loading the Whipple Tune when it comes via email.
I also highly recommend returning back to stock and upload the SCT updater program on a Windows 10 PC or laptop and update the SCT device.
Then load the Tune onto the SCT X4
They roll out firmware updates quite often. A few a year!

I just love my 2013 Hennessey Velociraptor! (700 hp 6.2L w/ 2.3L Supercharger). I would not have it any other way. I have no heating/ cooling issues and the thing is an Angry Beast with an Attitude! It was modified from the get go. This baby does 90 Mph everywhere with ease. The only gotcha is the speeding tickets that come with it. (lol). I have had many turbo cars, but the sound and feel and seat-of-your-pants acceleration of a supercharged V8 is priceless!

The installer finally received the correct tune and followed the instructions just as you outlined. Now the only issue is when cruising on the highway and slowly rolling on the throttle it surges sometimes. The installer thinks it may have something to do with the throttle body and the tune. I just emailed Whipple the issue and am waiting on a response (which takes days as they are busy). I’m confident they will get it right eventually. Thanks for all of your help with the info. By the way the drive home was insane. The truck is a beast now. It feels faster than my C5 corvette. Wow!

It wasn’t ran hard and it is now running real good except for a sure he issue at highway speeds and light steady throttle. I am guessing Whipple will have me data log it next and send them the data. I also am not sure if the computer needs to learn things and maybe the surge will work itself out? My installer says he doesn’t think so.
