Transport or someone hit the top of the lift when raising it.

****. You’re probably right. I had my truck at a 4x4 shop to have the rear pinion seal replaced on the last day in April, and I’ll bet they hit the top of the lift. Yesterday was the first day I’ve driven the truck since then, and it caught my eye as soon as I got home.

Im assuming that for this to actually be the case, they’d have to have popped the sunroof, possibly for covid disinfecting, but it certainly lines up that way. The deformation would probably also explain the noise my sunroof was making yesterday as it moved down and out of the roof, prior to starting its journey aft.

The lift we used to have had a bar across the top that would stop the lift if it was bumped by the roof. May be worth a trip back to the 4x4 shop to see if theirs is equipped with one, or if it even works. Pinion wasn't covered under warranty, you didn't take it to a Ford dealer?
I would check the sunroof rails closely.

Interesting to know, but I won’t ever be going back to that particular shop; this was their third strike with me. Instead of dealing with them I opted to purchase a paint less dent removal kit off of amazon, and I’ll take a shot at removing the dents when it arrives.

The pinion seal itself was damaged by a part that this shop manufactures, and since they did the install, the also did the fixes for me under warranty work.

Anything in particular I might want to look for in the sunroof rails?

Sounds to me like it's time to file a claim with their insurance company for any and all issues they have caused. They should have insurance and you should be able to get it all repaired at a shop of your choice. Your call, but there is no way you should just live with any of it. I'm not a body guy, but I don't think that is a repair for any novice. Then again, you may be a body expert for all I know and if that is the case just ignore me...lol. Good luck!

I would just look it over and make sure everything is okay, since you said there is wind noise now. I kind of doubt they opened the sunroof to put it on the lift, but who knows. The tempered and/or laminated glass in the moonroof is probably tougher than the aluminum roof or rails.

Glass has little to no toughness. Toughness as a material property is the ability of a material to absorb energy and deform plastically without breaking into pieces. I still remember some stuff from school.

You're wrong.
