So they're willing to replace the shock that is leaking under warranty but don't want to replace the one that is functioning fine? Sounds pretty normal to me. Sucks that it's backordered but at least they're replacing it.

Way back in Oh Ten they replaced one leaking coilover on my truck, I never had an issue with the other one.

Are they just looking to replace the shock (keeping the same spring and just swapping it on the new one) or the entire assy?

If it is just the shock, I dont think it is as big of an issue as if they replaced the entire assy. Maybe you can get them to do mid perch at the same time?

The back-order thing does suck. Ford will provide a loaner car under warranty however; it is only for a few days (took my dealer 3 weeks to fix my rear axle). I would work with the dealer who you purchased the truck from as they will be more willing to extend the rental car agreement than a different dealer would.

I'd bet entire assembly.

I wonder if they'd give you a one time offer @ cost for a set? Just saying as an option if you didn't plan on a future upgrade.

I'll chime in since Labraptor is busy filling the drug addictions of central illinois.

He's had a go around a few times with his local dealer. they are pretty scared of him.

He's already at mid perch. I drove the truck friday after his concern and noticed right away what was wrong. Arrived at his house and took a look underneath and there was oil residue all over the passenger front shock. Jounce the front end and the passenger front continued on its cyclical cycle.

Theres no dobut the dealer will give him a loaner for the time needed. I dont think him, nor his kids want to go a mount without the raptor.

I called my dealer today, im personal friends with the service manager, he confirmed the backorder on the shocks, mid to end of june at the earliest.

Entire assembly and service manager doesn't want to do just one. He has "concerns" about the other side. Since it isn't showing fluid loss Ford insists on only doing one under warranty.

I have an offer for an almost new set for much less than they want for one. If I decide to stay stock that is the way I will probably go.

Kind of wondering how much I should limit driving it until fixed. On road only for sure until fixed. Illinois roads suck so even on road isn't smooth sailing.

And thanks Ironman, if I go that way I will let you know.

If you end up buying third party, at least ask the Ford dealership if they will send you the new shock when it comes in June.

That way, when the next guy on the forum only gets one side warrantied from Ford, you can hook him up with a discounted shock.

Take the replacement. I was surfing the web last week and found the TSBs for Raptors. Ford recently released a TSB saying that leaking shocks are normal for SVT Raptors and the dealer is not to replace. Seems like complete ******** to me but that's what the TSB said.

Just my opinion. I don't think they are obligated to replace both. It would be the same with a road hazard warranty on tires. Tires are half worn out. One gets destroyed. The tire co replaces the damaged tire but they are not obligated to replace both.
