Do you have a purchased extended warranty and that’s why Ford allowed a loaner?

No, no ESP plan, my dealer just gave me one. At first they were going to give me one off their lot but all they had was some crapbox. i'm 6'5 so I said no, and they sent me over to the attached enterprise. I had the truck for weeks on Ford's dime.

Just got it back yesterday. Runs good as new. Nice and quiet at startup. Dealer told me they have 5 more vehicles currently in for the same failure.

The main thing was they replaced the timing belt tensioners. I have the dealer paperwork, but it's at home.

I wanted to post my experience around this topic. My 2018 was also experiencing a rattling noise for 3-5 seconds on cold start which continued to get worse as time went on. I continued to video document the noise each morning. I took it in this last week to get diagnosed at around 12k miles (this started around 6k miles). I received a call from the dealer that they are replacing the VCTS, timing chains and all associated hardware. Parts are on order but will not be received until the end of the month, they are quoting a 2 day turnaround once the parts are received. Looks like they will have the truck for almost a month from front to finish. In the meantime they were gracious enough to provide me a loaner for the duration of the repair. I will update this thread when I get the truck back, hopefully this will fix the issue.

Can you post the paperwork? Did you sound only occur for a few seconds, or did it last for several?

I'm part of this club now. Now started some time ago but is getting worse. Just dropped it off a dealer who's new to me. We'll see how this goes.
