I see this thread came back after 2 months of no activity. Did any of the early skeptics finally install them? If so, please provide your thoughts.

I am getting ready to do an MPT 93 PRX with FR IC and 170 t-stat install on my 2018. I ordered the SP-542s based on this thread, even though I have had zero issues with my factory setup after 2K miles.

I put them in and so no change in fuel economy, no change in idle, no change in power, the visceral driving experience is not significantly enhanced. There is not a tighter connection between me, the truck, and the highway.

Hmm, starting to wonder if it was just bad gapping (or just plugs) from factory then. Not sure I want to bother replacing mine. Some have done back-to-back testing of new 550s vs 542s and noted a difference, but I think most (if not all) are running tunes.

This is the type of feedback I was looking for... You hit all of the previous "positive" comments in one quick reply.

Are you running a tune? If so, which one?

Your comments make me wonder why others have experienced much more positive results. Since I already ordered mine, I am going to install them at the same time I have the rest of the work done, as I have not heard any reason not to use them. (i.e. With all of the changes I am doing, I will not be able to judge the difference...)

My stock plugs care out at 22k miles, nice coffee brown, gaps were like 35

new plugs are 32 pretty cosistently, I gapped all to 25.

I run the 5 Star 93 Performance tune.

I put a set in mine at 5,500 miles and have around 6,500 miles. The biggest thing I notice is it got ride of the stubble I would get every so often. It might of helped on the low end power but hard to tell. Also I have the MPT 91 PRX tune. They came gapped at 28 and left them like that.

Not only are you changing the heat range of your plugs, plus changing your ECM , and for some their TCM modes
Your sync 3 communicates to ford quite often . I’ve decided to stay stock and train my ECM & TCM by my driving style . It works, it just takes longer. I will drive the hell out of it for 6 years or 100,000 miles with a bumper to bumper warranty . Each to their own
