i had ordered these plugs a while ago, but I let them sit on the shelf.
Today I decided, since I'm about to head out on a road trip, and I had some really weird misfire messages pop up in the past week, that I'd at very least pull the factory plugs and take a gander.
I recently trimmed my exhaust pipes to a turn down over the axle in preparation for the bumper I ordered for the rear. Since I trimmed, I've also been getting backfiring.
Based on the way the plugs look...
My truck is apparently subject to some carbon fouling and looks to be a little too hot/lean from what the plugs say. They certainly weren't that nice cardboard brown. could also be a little bit of oil fouling.
I have had ticking and other noises on start up.
I decided to take the 15 mins and swap the plugs.
So far in the couple mile test drive afterward, no ticking, smoother throttle response, and the motor seems to rev a little freer too.
We'll see how she fares on the drive this weekend, but so far I'm rather pleased.
For reference, my truck is an 18, has about 7500 miles on it and I've been mostly running the MPT 93 PRX for the past 3500 miles.
