It would depend on your driving style... To me (and I haven't driven it yet) it just seems annoying to have it turn off and on. I am not sold that it will last as long with an extra 40 start stops per day also however some say it was built do withstand it. Nothing about the Auto Start/Stop makes sense to me but then again I have never hugged a tree in my life.

I don't fully understand the second part of that video. What does disabling the switch do? What happens if you don't apply that second change?

I too didn't understand the second part of the video without seeing it in action. My guess is that second program change disables that switch which is already useless if the the program on the front of the video disables the Auto On/Off.

Curious, how effective is auto start/stop on mpg? I know it depends on traffic pattern, but how much is it suppose to save typically?

I saw a decrease of 0.2 mpg wen I turn off the start/stop. I can live with that.

I disabled auto start/stop this weekend with forscan. It DOES work, however the 'reason' it disables it is that it tricks the system into thinking that it is "charging". Not sure where everyone is coming up with the conclusion that there is a sub installed. Couldn't find any evidence of that.

That was the reason I re-enabled it. I hate auto start/stop, but this mod is still new, and who knows what other function might be reading that memory location for another function. Is it really charging when it shouldn't be by altering battery voltage or load readings ?

So I re-enabled after playing with it this weekend. I'll wait until someone finds the "right way" to disable it.

I'm also working on a simple circuit to "pulse" the system (simulate a button press of the auto start/stop button) every time the ignition is cycled. That way, the auto start/stop will essentially be OFF by default, but the button will still function if you want to turn it ON. In my opinion, we should have the option of defaulting the system OFF.

Let me know of any interest in a circuit to make the system default OFF, in lieu of anyone discovering how to do it via ForScan.

Thanks, I can live with that too.

If I can get on the HPT beta program, I will try disabling this via the ecu programmer. They apparently added this feature recently. However, I do wish there was a way to turn it on when I want it. Sometimes this feature makes sense, some of the roads I use have very long lights.

I'd definitely be interested

Total FORscan noob here, didn't even watch the video, but what if you scan it in SPORT mode and see if that flag changes? Scan it in sport mode and see if anything changes, then start experimenting.

Start/Stop sucks, my wifes GL450 has it and we hate it. Such a garbage feature to force on car/truck owners to save .1mpg
