Console vault, anyone?
Sure. That works. Just seems like you are going to significant lengths just to keep the keys in the truck. I happen to dislike the look of the keypad and never use it. Would never order a vehicle with it. The phone app does everything I need and much more than the keypad

Left the keys in and the truck running many times (dozens at least) for decades and numerous trucks- no theft yet.

Theft has everything to do with where you live. I don't worry about it where I live.
True- I live in a rural area so I understand. Just doesn’t seem like a smart idea. You can simply put the fob in your pocket and remote start it with the fob or phone app. The risk, albeit small where you live, isn’t worth it.

Got the vault anyway, for other reasons. Plus I often hike with others and we generally separate. Whoever gets back first can get in. And most times I'm out in the boonies, so there's no cell coverage. If all I did was go to Starbucks, yeah, the keypad would be useless. And it isn't a work truck, where the pad is also useful, so I guess Ford decided to pinch some pennies. Can't say I blame them. I'm glad that at least it's available as an add on.
