If you want that feel fast all the time feeling put it in sport and hold on
True, it’s nice to have options through vehicle modes. Concur with the theme here, the R is an average strong V8 in Normal Mode low RPMs. Sport Mode gets sporty even at ~1/3 to 1/2 throttle.

If you want to feel the power, install a set of 35’s on the R. I had a few things come up and could not wait at the tire shop. So, the day before I swapped the wheels and tires from my former raptor on and dropped off the R wheels. What a huge difference in acceleration. If I ever have a planned drag race, I am swapping out again.

Former President Jimmy Carter once said he had lust in his heart. Is there anyone here who, when they see a hot woman, wouldn’t want to do her, regardless of how happily married you may be? I’m not saying I, or you, would, but we want to.
Same with the R. Any Raptor owner lusts after that truck. I know I do. I happened to drive my wife’s Cayenne GTS yesterday, 4 liter V8 Twin Turbo. When you step on it on the highway it’s scary fast. And the pops and burbles that come out of the quad exhaust are intoxicating.
Same with the exhaust note of the R and the Gen1 for that matter.
All that aside, my lowly 35” Gen3 is still an awesome truck and I really love not having car payments.
That tt V8 is no joke, my wife recently got a 24’ cayenne turbo e-hybrid with the sports exhaust, the pops and burbles are unreal! It helps keep miles off the R. 729hp and she makes sure I know it

I think they make some pedal commander stuff for the R if you want more pep on the low end, I don’t have one but seems like an option if you want it to lunge 24/7 but I keep it in sport mode with Baja exhaust and never noticed a lag, especially from a dig.

Just the therapy session I needed to have. Thank you for saving me a TON of money...especially on gas...lol.

I have a similar car/truck buying problem. Your story, and Ford's terrible color selection on Rs (my opinion of course) are helping me overcome the desires...lol.

Congrats and good luck on the newest truck!
I totally agree with you regarding the lack of color selection. I went to the dealership to order an "R" and ended up not ordering anything due to the lack of color choices. The General Manager said that perhaps they'll be coming out with something new mid-year. If I'm going to spend 6 figures for a pickup truck, I want something that I really like. In the interim, my Code Orange 37 is really easy to live with.
