So, How Does the 5.4 Compare to the 6.2? (Oh no not this **** again)

Bojangles. Raptorguy. Two Raptors, two different engines, one camera, one empty straightaway, one epic video to end all debate.

Note that the info I posted was not a drag race. Just an FYI.

I think a variety of onroad timed tests and dyno run s would be informative but not likely to happen scientifically.

Drag racing is just one way to judge the real world difference the two engines have. Passing power, if you see what I mean. I think Raptorguys mods are reasonable enough for a comparison thats at least a short highway pull :fight1:

Yea so a 5.4 w/ Exhaust, Tuner, and CAI should at least provide 25hp and more aggressive shifting.

Would love to see what the same mods on the 6.2 produce.

this fact is so often overlooked by the amateur driver. Some people seem to think that all you need is a big engine and a lead foot to be fast. ...So not true. Racing schools have proven to me that you can take 10 drivers of varied skill level and put them in the exact same car on the exact same track and have 10 very different lap times. True speed has just as much to do with driver knowledge and track vision as it does with horsepower and suspension.

I've learned this lesson my self. When I first got my SC Harley truck, I raced a friend with a VHO GMC. My friend wiped the floor with me multiple times. Installed some better times and shocks and that was the last time my friend beat me...until he installed a bottle.

See here's my thing: the 5.4L was running E85 and the 6.2 was running XX octane. The first thing is that E85 is not available everywhere, thus the hp increase is moot if you really want to run a 6.2L. Secondly, if the aforementioned 93 vs. 87 octane dyno numbers are to be believed...well I thought both engines were tuned for optimum output running at 87 octane. Last but not least, as much as I would like to believe this, I find it hard to believe that the 5.4 hung with 6.2 especially with the better transmission interaction with the 6.2L....the only way this would be possible is if the 6.2 sandbagged, the 5.4 manually shifted to redline, or the 5.4 was modified.

Just my two cents and crappy thoughts...for what they are worth.

The 5.4 was tuned with intake and exhaust
