The 5.4 was tuned with intake and exhaust

Just my opinion, but it could be the powerband of the engine, but I find it hard to believe. Then again was it manually shifted, sounds stupid, but I doubt the transmission pegs out at red-line.

I do own the 5.4 so I would definitely like to believe this...no doubt.

Truth be told......................Really tired of the 5.4 vs. 6.2 thingy, though it is nice to here different perspectives every once in a while especially when it's not just the same ole "my engine has more horsepower than yours" type of crap.

Thanks for the info CrookedBread. :)

The truck would have to be stock to be able to run E85 unless the owner has a few tunes and one being an E85 only tune.

I think he was actually referring to a CAI and an exhaust and not a programmer, in which case the owner could run E85. Truth be told, I originally thought the same thing as you though.

I heard it from a Bojangles who has a 6.2 I have a 5.4 too so I hope he is telling the truth. I hate people that try to compare them, but a exhaust, tune and intake run maye $2500? And you can get a tune for any fuel or octane. Got race gas? Great fill er up! So if that makes them run almost even, I think its redemption time for us 5.4 guys who are always getting our engine bashed

In all honestly I really do not care about the 5.4/6.2 bash. I'm not running at the strip and I am the only Raptor in my area. On top of that in 12+" loose sand (I live on/near the beach) I have no problem with the power provided by my baby. If I ever feel bogged down I simply shift into low, floor it and all is right in the world. I have no need for a tune, exhaust, high octane fuel (though I know where you are coming from) but I do have a Roush CAI (doubt it helps much on the hp aspect). Plus when driving on city streets and interstates I am plenty happy with the 5.4's power.

Even though I am happy with the hp (more hp is always good though not necessary) the one thing I miss is the fact that Roush does not have a supercharger for the 5.4.

In the end...I am happy with my rig and if a 6.2 or any other vehicle wants to blast by me then so be it, all I know is that I will always be going 10% above the posted speed limit.

This is a long post but so be it...... :)

Roush do make a supercharger for the 5.4 that should fit the Raptor. http://store.roushperformance.com/detail.aspx?ID=553
That with the 08-09 supplemental pack should fit the 2010 5.4 and give 145 hp 143 lb-ft

I actually contacted them as soon as I bought my Raptor and I was informed that the one listed does not fit the Raptor (know where you are coming from though) and also told that they have no plans to develop one. There words were, 'round about, "maybe down the road." Obviously the reason for the Roush option would be that it falls under the Ford bumper-to-bumper warranty so long as it is installed by a authorized Roush Ford dealer.

The though of adding the charger has come gone....it would have been more of a "yeah, I got a supercharger on my Raptor" and more for bragging rights. Not too many 6000lb truck running quarters at the strip aside from the VelociRaptor (POS).

Hah...what about a 100hp NOS kit...............

I would bet that tuning would have been the major reason as there does not seem to be a "off-road mode" compatible tune on the streets (or trails :)) yet.

From what I understand the JDM tune doesn't affect off road mode at all and that its still very useable.

I don't know where you guys heard that Julian is/was running E85, but I do NOT believe that is/was the case.

Riku is right, JDM's tune doesn't really change OffRoad Mode.
