The Raptor is not perfect; just better than any other factory produced truck. By FAR!
We're saying the same thing. Using 4A in normal conditions is unnecessary and you will experience some torque bias at slow speeds when turning. I have not read the Gen2 owner's manual, but I doubt that they RECOMMEND 4A in normal driving conditions.
I believe that your use of 4A is as FORD intended.
If you think we worship the Raptor...look at the battles between the 6.2 V8 dinosaurs and the 3.5 TT V6's.
If you ever get the chance to drive a car/truck with a true front locker on dry pavement, don't pass up the on the opportunity. Even better with manual steering. With the front tires locked both tires pull at the same rate. Turning the steering wheel is like a suggestion rather than a command!

While I've never driven a locked front, I ride bikes in Moab a lot and have seen highly modified Jeeps doing crazy stuff, including the crazy wheel hop when negotiating a switchback on slickrock.

Good move. I've had many 4wd vehicles/46 years, and driven thousands of miles off road...95% in sand. The Torsen in the Raptor has felt the best and definitely more pull in soft sand/off road. I've driven 4wd trucks with manual locking hubs with open diffs and never felt as confident as with the Torsen. I've also driven AWD Audi's and Subaru's and Isuzu Vehicross'. The Torsen is much better than an open diff; and allows steering that is nearly impossible with a fully locked diff; (I have driven trucks with locking diffs in deep muddy conditions, and they are almost impossible to turn).

Torsen in the sugar sands down here is freaking awesome. What a diff from the open diff...pun intended

The article was written by a contributor in the magazine "Road and Track", which I have read religiously for 50+ years.
No where does it say you SHOULD drive in 4A in dry conditions; only that you CAN because of a viscous coupling in the drive train. Again I have not seen the Gen2 OWNER's manual; but I bet that they do NOT RECOMMEND driving in 4A in dry conditions...

ps I loved Henry Manney III's writings. He had a way of making everything interesting, and was the reason I loved Road and Track in my formative years. It's not recommended or condemned for dry on road use. It is an option that is acceptable based on driver preference. 2H is default for normal mode and 4A is default for weather mode and the driver has the option to select either transfer case option in either mode.

4A is also the only driving mode that is persistent, ie it stays on through vehicle restarts. It was designed for full-time, dry pavement use.

Raptor was designed to run on regular fuel all day long but Ford still recommends premium.

Are you a *********? If you don’t like the way 4A drives why do you insist on driving in 4A especially considering the conditions you’re driving in clearly don’t call for it? You vented your frustrations earlier that Raptor owners are very defensive about their trucks, but the more I read your posts the clearer it becomes that we just don’t hate ourselves as much as you hate yourself.

Negative. 2H is the default. 4A may also stay active but it is not the only mode.

What other selectable driving modes stay active through a restart?
