Shipping to CA

CA buyer here and I’ve been inquiring with dealers out of state. I had one mention they can’t ship/sell to CA for emissions reasons. I found this hard to believe. Does ford produce different variants of the f150 raptor? I can understand if a smog inspection would be required in CA. But to not be able to sell otherwise doesn’t make any sense.

Can anyone else corroborate this info?

I remember when you had to look for the yellow emission sticker when buying out of state. That's no longer a thing. That dealer is dumb or just doesn't want to deal out of state. I'm betting dumb.

my old snap on dealer went to buy a house in kentucky to retire and everything went well up until the point he said he was from california. mysteriously 2 days later the house was off the market and he got no response from the sellers

Some of us were born and have family here. It’s expensive for sure, but the weather and quality of life is good. Once the kids are grown and out of the house though, we're gone.

Enough about politics/etc. other dealers have confirmed they ship to CA. But for Rs they still don’t want to deal. I refuse to pay $1 over msrp regardless how great this truck is. I did that for my bronco raptor and I’ll never do it again.

I'm staying here as long as my 95yo mother is still alive. Then, I can reassess the situation. But right now I'm within 90min tops from her home, and she deserves that.

Well good luck if you're smiling and dialing. Many of us here got MSRP but doubt from smiling and dialing. In my case it was previous purchase history and pinging the GM every month or so with friendly banter, which finally paid off a year later w/ allocation. Like many dealers they refuse to deal with CA residents and sell local (TX) only. Good luck in hunt it's a beast of a truck.
