Searching tow capacities by VIN

Hello, is there a way to search the specific build's payload and tow rating by VIN?

Obviously, options and configurations add/subtract weight of the Raptor, effecting the actual payload and tow #s

I know RAM has a feature on their website where you enter the VIN and based on the options/configuration it will show the actual real time ratings.

Not that I have seen and the owners manual supplement for the raptor doesn't indicate VIN-specific information, just a blanket:

yes that is the standard published numbers.. but a Raptor with say Pano roof will weigh more than an equal Raptor without pano, and therefore, have a lower payload rating & lower tow rating.. With RAM's vin search, it will take into account all options (and their corresponding weights) and give you the actual tow rating and payload (which will be below published numbers)

Ford does not do this for the Raptor. If you are concerned about payload and towing a Raptor is not the truck for you...not what it was made for. It's the same tranny and more powerful engine vs F150 yet ratings are much lower due to soft rear suspension.

Ford uses SAE J2807 method to calculate it.

Here are the main test methods trucks would be measured on as per J2807:

• Cooling capability on a long highway upgrade modeled on the Davis Dam grade on Arizona SR 68;
• Launch and acceleration performance on a level road and a 12 percent upgrade;
• Combined handling performance – understeer and trailer sway;
• Combined braking performance – stopping distance and parking brake-hold on grade; and
• Structural performance for the vehicle and hitch or hitch receiver.

New calculations for trailer weight ratings: In addition to the performance standards, SAE J2807 also uses a specific set of assumptions to calculate maximum trailer weight ratings:

• For light-duty full-size pickups (GVWR < 8,500 lbs.), SAE J2807 assumes that the tow vehicle includes any options with higher than 33 percent penetration;
• It assumes there is both a driver and passenger in the vehicle, each weighing 150 pounds;
• It assumes that tow vehicles also include up to 70 pounds of aftermarket hitch equipment (where applicable); and
• For conventional trailer towing, SAE J2807 assumes that 10 percent of the trailer weight is on the tongue.

You are over thinking it. If the owners manual isn't good enough there is a sticker on the driver B pillar that is specific to your vehicle.

^^ and if you stop by McDonalds and eat a quarterpounder with cheese prior to getting in the truck make sure you deduct that weight from the GVW.
