No you state you selected auto!

You need to remove or uninstall!

The point of "auto" finding things was after the SCT program was already loaded on the computer and after the x4 was connected/dissconnected via usb. Since the two didn't recognize was other, I checked device manager drivers. Shows a yellow exclamation error. I right click to fix... I tried auto, didn't work. Uninstalled started over, tried browse and it forced me to look for file - no good. Uninstall again, start over same thing. Get to the driver screen and cancel. Still no good. I asked other tuners and they said this was a big problem for SCT that they haven't fixed. They said that SCT has to send me the correct file so I can snag it in "browse" (to correct driver) and it will fix it. What a mess - and nobody at SCT will get back to me.

But your confirming to me that you uninstalled the driver.

Just uninstalling the Program is meaning less.
Windows will store the .inf (Device Driver Info) file because you select look for best driver.
And Windows will auto install that before the program can communicate with the SCT Device.
The only way to stop auto loading the wrong Driver is to uninstall it in the Device Manager while it is plug in, then remove the scanner and a reboot.
You really shouldn't need to uninstall the Software. But I doesn't hurt.

You are the only one having this problem that I'm aware of, something has to be a miss.

I've went through 17 flashes to the truck and 5 or 6 firmware updates to the device. ON my Desktop and Laptop. Ok both are Windows 7

I have tried a second laptop - same result. Also, when uninstalling, I am doing two... One for the program AND the second was for the drivers. Every time, it fails.

Mike you're the Man!!!

And the link for the special file works.

I was about to go next door and borrow my neighbor's Windows 8 laptop, just to see.
