Taking a little more time on this Raptor to get the lights the way I want....first I installed BD S2 lights in the bumper to replace the Rigid OEM ones and put BD S1 on the rear. Nothing wrong with Rigid (ran them on my Jeep), but just prefer the looks and options of the BD lights. Since I could not make my mind up all at once, I installed the Aux Wire extensions from @Specialtyperformanceparts which was a very wise decision as I keep making changes to how I have the lights connected to the Aux Switches and I am sure I will make at least one more change.

On my 2020, I had a BD ONX6+ in the lower grill and 40" S8 behind the upper grill plus BD pocket lights and all white except for a pair of S1 in the bumper pockets. Would light up the world pretty good, but almost too much for where/how I drive. The bumper Factory Amber S2 in Wide Cornering gives a nice wide pattern, but there was a bit of a gap directly in front of the truck. So went with the S8 Factory Amber, Wide cornering and even though 2 of the LEDs are blocked by the trim, it does a great job coupled with the S2's and now I have a consistent pattern all the way from side-to-side.

The SPV brackets are a quality product and great black color match. And the custom harness makes connection a breeze. I did make a few changes during the install. First, I swapped out the silver BD front face screws for black stainless steal screws (M4x12mm). Second, the SPV kits comes with lock nuts and depending on your tools it can be a pain to run them down the long bolt. So I used SS washer, SS lock washer, and SS nut instead....way easier (Home Depot 1/4"). Third, when you pull the front bumper trim pieces, you can re-use the clips. But sometimes the prongs break and if removed a few times like I did they tend to break off. So got these clips from Amazon whcih worked great. https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0B7QV96XP/?tag=fordraptorforum-20

A plus that I did not think about upfront was how the S8 backlight worked with the Factory Amber. On my previous truck, the backlight was not all that obvious with the white lens. With the Factory Amber lens, the backlight creates kind of a light glow which makes it more obvious.

UPDATED 12/15/2024:

So I just did not like the two posts in the lower grill trim piece. Further down this thread I documented how I modified it. Then once I had the posts removed, I did not like the "extra" part of the SPV bracket that stuck out toward the center past the mounting bolts. When I had OnX6+ in my last Raptor, it all looked clean because there was a honeycomb grill over the front. Now that it was wide open, it needed to be a little neater to calm the OCD. I cut 1 3/8" off of the SPV bracket, expoxied it back on to make the extension shorter, and they hit the face with black textured paint. Here are the brackets after modification.

So your first thought might be that you don't like the overlap of the two pieces of the bracket. Well I planned to mount the light behind the OEM bumper mounting points and after measuring about 20 times I was confident that I would not see the overlap. And it turned out that I also had a perfect way to hide the tie wrap used to secure the light wire so it would not interfere with the shudders. Here is the final picture with the new shorter brackets and the new trim piece. Much cleaner to me and now see all 8 lights vs. 6.

Next is to mount two more S8 behind the grill.

So now I am leaning toward the BD Sqaudron Pro behind the grill kit from SPV, but need to play with what I currently have to determine the white/amber/lens patterns that I want.

Thanks for the write up. I have spent a month back and forth on what I want to put in the lower grill. (@Specialtyperformanceparts John I owe y’all a call to discuss). But for everyone else..

What lights and bracket is available if I don’t want a light bar? I was thinking 2 lights might look cool in the outer openings a leave the center open. I’ve seen a few folks running 5 Rigids in the lower grill but in those cases the cover is removed so there’s no divider. I also don’t think I need that much light. At least for now.

One off-road trip and I had 3 of my lights hanging by the harness. I made the mistake of not using nylon lock nuts and used lock washers instead. Keep an eye on them.

Thanks. Will do. Also used blue loctite so should be good at least for a while.

I have installed 2 Rigid D-SS lights in my 2024 Raptor R in the lower grill. They light up the ditches really well.

@hamster I have a 2024 801A regular bumper. Do you think the bumper center grill S8 will fit? I think the pins are similar for both regular and modular bumpers. How did you go about installing?

@Specialtyperformanceparts any insight? If it will fit, will it also work with the onx6+ 10 inch instead of the S8?

The S8 will fit in standard '24 bumper. The ONX6+ (and other variations) are 1.29" deeper than the S8. The S8 fits and has clearance for the shudders. I did not measure it, but it did not look to me that the ONX6+ would fit at least not cleanly. John@SPV or maybe some others will know for sure about the ONX6+.

Take a look at the following page....scroll down and there is a video on installing the S8 on 2017-2020 Raptor and the install is pretty much the same for the 2024. If going to get one, then do so while you can get 20% on Baja Design.

@hamster thanks for the info. I really like the onx6+ over the S8. I wonder if I remove the shudders to free up some space will the onx6+ fit and resolve the depth issue.

Either way, I kind of want to cut the two bars that block the light bar if possible. Not sure if they need to be there. I haven’t taken a part the bumper yet.
