I too have rust issue, had no visible rust when I got the truck last year and went to iowa over thanksgiving and came back to rust....really don't feel like paying out of pocket 2 to 4 grand and not sure if ford would be able to cover it

What year is your truck? Ford corrosion warranty is 5 years from sale date I believe. If you have a 2014 you may be eligible for repair.

They will only fix it under warranty if there is perforation in the metal. I took my 2012 in for rocker repair in 2017 just before Ford's 5yr corrosion warranty was going to expire. My rockers were wet/rusted to the point I could push my finger completely through the metal on both sides. Ford did warranty repair them, the body shop that performed the work cuts out the entire rocker and welds in a new one and paints it. They said this job for both sides would have cost around $15-18k out of pocket.

I just had my inner and outer rockers and cab corners cut out and replaced on my 2011. I had all Ford parts (no aftermarket) used. I went to about 6 body shops before I could find one willing to do the job. I got quotes in a range from $3,000 to $5,000 per side. My shop did a great job! Not sure he wants to do another one for a while.

I had rust just starting to form on my cab corners and a tiny bit on my rocker panels. It was driving me crazy. A guy at work has a buddy who’s dad does work on the side. I got a hold of him and he came to my shop to assess the damage. It wasn’t terribly bad but again I wanted to catch It before it got worse. Basically he cut out the driver side cab corner and replaced, ground both rockers down and repainted and undercoated them, then ground the pinch welds and undercoated them and undercoated my whole frame front to back. Charged me $1000 which doesn’t seem bad and it looks really good. Hey as long as it prevents more rusting I’m happy

I assume this is the main rocker panel thread.

Has anyone welded in new rocker pieces? I'm also not entirely sure that will be good on mine since the rust extends nearly full length. Would like to secure near the running board mounts. Mines showing bulging near there so its a stress point.

Thinking if you cut 1" width and maybe 12" length and weld 2 pieces inline with the existing 2 pieces.

I have learned so much on this thread...I'll be saving up for undercoating before corrosion starts. Thanks, this is very helpful.
