Dealer won't fix the rattler. They want it to blow up.
You are right, Ford marketing did well at making this look good. Those of us (many) that are not happy have regret. I wish I had bought something different. Works out because they will give me good trade for this 5.2 supercharged.
The trade value is a big issue if Ford really brings something big. The market will be flooded with older models and likely a drop in value. Over at Blue Oval, they're saying that Raptor demand has leveled off. Part of the reason for so many available below MSRP. If Ford confirms any of this, sales are likely to fall even more.

Life is too short for regrets. If I was you, I would sell now. Your value will be higher. Get something you like . You will be happier.

This is how the conversation went down at Ford HQ

Marketing: Our focus groups tell us they are switching to Ram unless we put a 700-hp supercharged V8 in the Raptor.

Engineering: Do you realize that will melt the KO2s?

Marketing: Can't you find tires that won't melt?

Engineering: I suppose we could put high-performance street tires on the Raptor.....

Marketing: Great!

Engineering: But if we do that, the Raptor's brakes are barely adequate as they are and will be downright dangerous on a faster truck.

Marketing: Then put stronger brakes on the Raptor.

Engineering: Easier said than done. The 17" rims are too small for more powerful brakes and we'd need to go up to 20" rims.

Marketing: So what's the problem?

Engineering: Well......between the high-performance street tires and larger brakes, the high center of gravity is going to be an issue.

Marketing: That's easy, just lower the tuck!

Engineering: Okay, but if we do that, we'll have less travel, so we will need to stiffen the suspension.

Marketing: Anything else?

Engineering: Nope. Nothing could possibly go wrong with a truck designed from ideas out of the marketing department and focus group...

Marketing: Great. BTW, it would mean a lot if we could get this thing do the quarter mile in 11 seconds.

Engineering: Sure, why the hell not. All we need to do is strip off the skid plates and all the other bits that make this an offroad truck. And while we're at it, might as well downsize the 35s to 33s too. Actually, make that 31s. Smaller is faster you know...

Marketing: Awesome, you're the best.

Engineering: At this point, you realize this is no longer a Raptor and it looks a lot like street-focused Lightning?

Marketing: I just had a great idea, we should call this the Raptor Lightning. Or should it be the Lightning Raptor? Hmmmmm, I better go ask the focus group.

Engineering: [hitting self on the forehead]

I drive a vehicle that breaks traction on dry pavement in 4th gear under wot. Will do rolling burnouts all day long. Yet, somehow, against apparently all odds, the tires don't just melt under the sheer terror of being mounted on it. Turns out I get to choose their fate with my right foot. 700 at the crank in a raptor would probably be 600 at the wheels. Add the overall weight of the truck and what you have is a fun to drive vehicle, that sounds great, with a good suspension. Sounds like something worth over $75k to me.

Seriously don't understand why anyone would complain about the option of more power.

I don't think it would affect it that much. The Raptor and "Raptor SE" (special edition for lack of knowing the actual name) will be occupying radically different price segments.

This may happen, buts it really going to cost a lot more money. The power train upgrades alone to handle 700+ hp will have to diesel like in strength. Adding a lot of weight. The truck power train and frame would have to completely redesign to handle that motor reliability.

I think this nails it right here. I've been reading bits 'n pieces here and there about the new (C8 or C9, I forget) 'vette bending the space frame with it's current powertrain configuration. I think the tranny, drivelines, diff's and axles would all need an upgrade to handle that much power/torque. And the frame rigidity would need a significant upgrade as well. Maybe even permanent AWD...gawd forbid, otherwise you'd be smoking rear tires through the first 7 gears. Also if you put any payload/trailer on it, you'll be looking at needing a significantly upgraded cooling system (bigger or multi-core radiator) which is going to make it even more front-heavy, contributing to under-steer. Maybe the engine itself will go in, but they may have to de-tune it.

I dunno. A stout ass 6.2L supercharged hellcat compared to a 5.2L supercharged engine who's engine's genesis was out of that GT350 that's known to blow up.

The Raptor will always be better than the TRX, even current Gen 3.5 ecoboost wins over TRX in my opinion. What is 700+hp going to benefit? Absolutely nothing except more fun and a better sound.

Horsepower is adjustable by how far you push your right foot down.

You must drive your truck Full throttle offroad all the time, 700 hp would not be a good choice for you.

Jesus Christ. Someone gets it.

The entire internet is FULL of people who apparently only drive at 100% WOT or 100% full-on panic braking.

It's not a FPC engine. It'll be a stout engine since they are about to drop it in the GT500 and sell it to drag racers. Ford will not put a high revving N/A fragile flower in there like they did for the road race guys.

I'd also say that both the GT500 and GT350 engine came from the 5.0 Coyote, who "genesis" was the 4.6L engine. IE it's really still just a mod motor with better top end parts and a spray bore block.

I would agree. Given rivuluan is using f150s as the platform for testing their new electric truck. ICE will be dusted for an electric or hybrid truck. Leave the 3.5 raptor ecocrap alone and make it shit ton more reliable then ******** an 160kW electric motor as hybrid if you want the speed and power. Everyone will forget what the hell TRX was. At 510lb-fts out of the gate, with electric motor you will be reaching turbo diesel torque territory and matching or exceeding hellcat HP while improving mileage.

Eh- trucks are used in places and in ways where an all electric vehicle does not make sense. You cannot store electric energy long term like you can with liquid fuels.

There will be electric trucks, but the gasoline and diesel engine will be very common in new trucks long after everyone here is dead.
