Agree with jaz above.

I hope they do this but even if they do, it's probably a 2021 model. And at that point might as well wait for the G3

And I still bet we will see a bigger Ecoboost before we see a V8. I hope they do both! The more options the better

The incentive Ford has now is called TRX. I doubt they will go back to a V8, but use an Ecoboost with an electric motor to step up performance. Ford already has this setup ready to roll on the Lincoln Aviator. With a 3.0 it has over 450 HP and over 600 lb ft torque.

I doubt this. The 5.2 supercharged is really the best fit. I just hope my bomb rattling 18 makes it to dump for this. The ecoboost was a horrible choice for the raptor.

I saw a Ford GT ecoboost do the standing mile and it only hit 187. The article went on to talk about the GT not being all that quick for what it is. I think the ecoboost is on its way out before Ford gets too exposed on reliability and performance issues.

Either way, the ecoboost will be a short-lived test in Ford Performance with not-so-great results.

I'm not sure what reality you're living in, my guess is that it's merely clouded by your bad luck with the platform, which is unfortunate, but you seem to be getting your own personal issues confused with the general success of the platform. If we look at the half-ton full size truck market, Ford is killing it with the EB both in terms of performance and towing.

As far as the problems you're having. My truck came with a warranty, as I'm sure yours did too. Why not use it? Letting your engine destroy itself won't make EB any less of a winner for Ford.

HELL I ZONA
If this is a last model year option , I liken it to the Buick Grand National with GNX option. There will never be anything like it from Ford again as next Gen Raptor will be Hybrid crap. I was 16yo and broke when the GNX was new in 87 . I'm going to start planning for this now:chewie:

This is how the conversation went down at Ford HQ

Marketing: Our focus groups tell us they are switching to Ram unless we put a 700-hp supercharged V8 in the Raptor.

Engineering: Do you realize that will melt the KO2s?

Marketing: Can't you find tires that won't melt?

Engineering: I suppose we could put high-performance street tires on the Raptor.....

Marketing: Great!

Engineering: But if we do that, the Raptor's brakes are barely adequate as they are and will be downright dangerous on a faster truck.

Marketing: Then put stronger brakes on the Raptor.

Engineering: Easier said than done. The 17" rims are too small for more powerful brakes and we'd need to go up to 20" rims.

Marketing: So what's the problem?

Engineering: Well......between the high-performance street tires and larger brakes, the high center of gravity is going to be an issue.

Marketing: That's easy, just lower the tuck!

Engineering: Okay, but if we do that, we'll have less travel, so we will need to stiffen the suspension.

Marketing: Anything else?

Engineering: Nope. Nothing could possibly go wrong with a truck designed from ideas out of the marketing department and focus group...

Marketing: Great. BTW, it would mean a lot if we could get this thing do the quarter mile in 11 seconds.

Engineering: Sure, why the hell not. All we need to do is strip off the skid plates and all the other bits that make this an offroad truck. And while we're at it, might as well downsize the 35s to 33s too. Actually, make that 31s. Smaller is faster you know...

Marketing: Awesome, you're the best.

Engineering: At this point, you realize this is no longer a Raptor and it looks a lot like street-focused Lightning?

Marketing: I just had a great idea, we should call this the Raptor Lightning. Or should it be the Lightning Raptor? Hmmmmm, I better go ask the focus group.

Engineering: [hitting self on the forehead]

Engineering: Not possible, the current raptor is the best a truck can be and ever will be, any attempt to make it better will make it worse.

Fixed it for you

I might agree if they didn't put the Raptor 3.5 into the limited, the most expensive F-150. The V8 will go away before the Ecoboost ever does. Most auto makers now offer some form of turbocharged engine choice. The next big thing is electric and turbo/electric.

Dealer won't fix the rattler. They want it to blow up.
You are right, Ford marketing did well at making this look good. Those of us (many) that are not happy have regret. I wish I had bought something different. Works out because they will give me good trade for this 5.2 supercharged.

I would agree. Given rivuluan is using f150s as the platform for testing their new electric truck. ICE will be dusted for an electric or hybrid truck. Leave the 3.5 raptor ecocrap alone and make it shit ton more reliable then ******** an 160kW electric motor as hybrid if you want the speed and power. Everyone will forget what the hell TRX was. At 510lb-fts out of the gate, with electric motor you will be reaching turbo diesel torque territory and matching or exceeding hellcat HP while improving mileage.
