I think stage 2 just means washable dry filter.

Stage 1 replaces the air filter and air intake tube, mine does have a dry filter. Both Stages have dry or oiled filter options.

Stage 2 replaces the air filter, the air intake tube, and the entire intake tract. It removes the stock intake box that has 6.2 written on it. Some have described this is a sound baffle for the intake.

What I want to know is if the Stage 2 adds anything more to the trucks performance or sound over the Stage 1.

Pat, I'm looking for thoughts on. Stage 1 vs Stage 2. Does it make a difference in sound, performance, or gas mileage?

The Airaid filter has fallen off about three times, including once at TRR. This is not a good thing! I did learn some tips to keeping it on, but the design is not optimal.

I want to add any extra power I can to the truck to make up for the weight I carry around. What about throttle spacers? Anyone recommend those?

I have the Airaid system, and I've posted on this before, but I'll just add it again -

Do not build the CAI based on the instructions - they are wrong. If you build like the instructions it will have you install the snorkel, then the box, then the filter, but here's the catch, you cannot get the clamp around the filter to fit perfectly, so any offroading and the filter is bouncing around and you're sucking dust/mud/water.

assembly the entire CAI on the ground - snorkel, box frame and filter. clamp the filter down tight and flush, then pick the entire thing up and fit it into place in your truck. I've been through 1 TRR and 1 Raptoberfest, and several other hooligan things and never had a problem since.

Thanks Ducati. I do remember seeing your post on another thread. You are right that it's very hard to get the filter fitted properly if you do it last. I cleaned all of the connecting surfaces with brake cleaner, then worked hard to get the filter seated correctly, then tightened the clamp firmly. Since then I've been OK off road.

Still wondering if Stage 2 outperforms Stage 1.

Well it doesn't apply to you guys cause I have the 5.4 not the 6.2 but I will say it woke it up a good bit with the stage 2 and I also have the afe throttle body spacer and that seemed to increase the initial jump on the throttle and made it a little louder. I'm happy with it all

I'm now wondering if I should get the SDHQ kit on my 2013. I'm all stock suspension on mid perch. I know that the 2013 frame is beefed up; will the reinforcement kit make any difference? Ideally, I'd like to run RPG Stage 2 or equivalent, but that's not in the cards as of yet.

I would, it's only $100 and from what I have heard, it is better than nothing.
