Roush -vs- Banks CAI

One factor that I like with the Roush CAI that others that I have observed lack is that the Roush has a flexible and not ridged air tube much like the original. With the torque of the engine it will not come loose as others have. I have read about this problem on the forum. Here is an image of mine so you can see for yourself...

S&B quality is superb.

From the ones I've seen, that's the only one I would use.

The new Injen unit does look interesting, though.

Im a vendor for Injen and we just recently did a group buy..(20+ units sold) We have had customers with AFE stage 2's, Roush intake, and Airraid kits remove them and replace with the new Injen . Not one person has had a negative feedback ! All have had nothing but great things to say about the kit and how well it performs . I my self personally have put over 3k miles on a New Injen kit with not one issue . From long trips to CA from vegas, to off-roading in the Las Vegas desert and Glamis this past new years . Trucks without tuners have noticed a difference and trucks that are tuned, have seen more . Quality made and tested . Dino sheet included was on a bone stock truck , and power was at the wheels .No BS inflated numbers true readings . A lot comes from the placement of the MAF sensor .

It could easily pass as OE parts save for the Roush lettering which is very low key when compared to Banks. I hope to get it installed this weekend weather and honey-do's permitting.

On the exhaust note (get it??) I've been looking at the Stainless Works dump system and possibly headers.

Definitely get it. I installed the Roush CAI and it may have been my crazy imagination I don't really know, but seemed my truck had unsteady RPMs. It idled a little rougher and when I romped on it, there was a lot of lag. May have been the lack of tune, may have been my imagination, or it may have been excessive exhaust back pressure. But after the MagnaFlow install, the rough edge went away and the air definitely flowed a lot smoother.

Hey guys,

Planning to install this today. I remember when I did the S&B on my old Ranger you were supposed to disconnect the battery for 20 mins so the ECU could "re-learn" with the new air filter/flow. Is this necessary? I would think a modern ECU would learn a lot faster.

I didnt... doesn't necessarily mean you aren't supposed to I guess. But I didn't have any issues. Your MAF should recognize the difference

Well that was about one of the easiest installs I have ever done. Great kit, Roush really took their time to make it right. My only complaint would be the air box clip that hold the top on closest to the recirc tank; it doesn't quite clip in like I want it too. I added a strip of foam tape to help but its still not as tight as I'd like it to be. I'll keep an eye on it and see if it shakes loose.

Thanks Mariner, I didn't but notice it idling slightly higher now (800-900 rpm) I am sure it would correct a bit after a few drive cycles.

Hmm I don't remember any high idling. So give it some time and see what happens. After the exhaust may want to add a tune to get more out of your system
